production is 🔥🔥 note re the AI segment this was recorded prior to the big release of OAI's math solutions

even more impressive that you still called out it was likely to happen in the near future thanks for coming thru

@nic_carter Pls save our coins

@nic_carter we have time (i think)

@nic_carter

@nic_carter How soon do you think this becomes a real issue?

@nic_carter we talk timelines in there from doomsday worst case scenario to more realistic base case

@nic_carter Thanks for clarifying.

@nic_carter the lads are back at it

@nic_carter like we never left

@nic_carter Looking good @nic_carter need that skincare routine

@nic_carter Such a good convo, perfect one to kick off @convergence__x

@nic_carter Added to the watch list ✅

On the AI half it is worth separating two claims that keep getting merged, because they imply different plans. AI shortening the road to a cryptographically relevant quantum machine is a real mechanism. Better decoders for error correction, better compilation, better calibration and control all cut the qubit count and the runtime for a given factoring instance. That moves the date. AI doing cryptanalysis on ECDSA itself is a much weaker claim. There is no lever in machine learning that touches the hardness of discrete log. Where learning has actually recovered keys it has been on the implementation surface: biased or repeated nonces, leakage in the signing path, intermediate values visible to a side channel. That is where essentially every ECDSA key ever lost went, from the PS3 static nonce to the Android SecureRandom bug, long before anyone involved AI. Which changes the planning answer. If the date moves, you migrate signatures on a schedule and the work is finite. If implementations are the attack surface, migrating buys you less than it looks, because the new scheme arrives with a signing path of its own and a much shorter history of people trying to break it in production.

@nic_carter Been waiting for this one

@nic_carter 🦾

@nic_carter the solo cups are such a vibe lmao

@nic_carter Is this available as an actual podcast? Are people really sitting down to watch multiple hours of video interviews a day? Looking forward to checking this one out!

I'm getting lost in all the show name changes over the years 😭

@nic_carter Nic the genocide supporter

@nic_carter quantum isn't the scary part, the upgrade fight is. that debate takes years so it has to start now

@nic_carter Did you guys discuss this new ai breaking crypto risk

@nic_carter TLDR: everyone has a goal to be quantum resistant by 2029 beside bitcoiners cause they’re too busy talking about spam on the chain or suck trump’s dick (Nic didn’t say that but that’s about it)
