Wild footage of the Mexican Army's land forces fighting CJNG cartel members to regain control. Full story below. The Mexican Embassy in Washington stated on Tuesday that conditions in Mexico have returned to normal, just two days after the Mexican military killed high-profile cartel figure Nemesio Rubén Oseguera Cervantes, alias “El Mencho,” head of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). In a post on X, the embassy noted: “The security situation has now stabilized following targeted operations in Jalisco.” It highlighted efforts by federal and state forces to reopen transportation routes and resume essential public services without major issues. Airline schedules are back to normal, with international carriers resuming operations and Puerto Vallarta International Airport reopening for domestic flights. The New York Times reported earlier in the week that U.S. intelligence from the CIA played a significant role in pinpointing Oseguera's location, aiding the Mexican operation that led to his death. The killing triggered immediate backlash, with widespread unrest in western Mexico including arson, road blockades, and armed clashes. Videos circulating on social media captured thick smoke rising over Puerto Vallarta and panicked crowds rushing through Guadalajara's international airport amid the chaos. While the embassy's update signals a return to calm, the U.S. State Department had previously issued shelter-in-place advisories for Americans in affected areas, and tensions remain elevated in the region.

Californians are legally turning their home kitchens into restaurants without ever renting commercial space. The Microenterprise Home Kitchen Operation (MHKO) program lets residents offer limited dine-in, takeout, and delivery services from their own homes. Operators can sell up to 30 meals a day and 90 a week, with annual sales capped at $100,000. Participants say it has given them a path to financial sustainability while serving cultural recipes and small-batch dishes that would be hard to launch otherwise. For Maria Evangelina Martinez Garcia, who runs a MEHKO called Maria’s Cocina in Pittsburg, the program completely changed her life. “It gave me a legal way to turn my passion for cooking into a real business while serving my community. It has allowed me to provide for my family, create jobs, and preserve the traditional Mexican recipes that have been passed down through generations.” She used the MEHKO program to transform her garage into a place where guests can enjoy an intimate dining experience, her cultural traditions, and a feeling of being welcomed into a family’s kitchen. “It’s about creating connections through food,” she said. During operation hours, she can be seen buzzing around her kitchen juggling multiple orders. She offers authentic homemade Mexican cooking, including handmade tortillas, birria, pozole, menudo, enchiladas, and fresh seafood such as ceviche, aguachiles, and mariscadas. “My faith has been the foundation of this journey. There were times when I felt discouraged, overwhelmed, and unsure of what my future would look like,” she said. “Through prayer and trusting God, doors began to open that I never imagined possible.” The program requires local permits, kitchen inspections, and food safety certification, and is currently authorized in 17 counties plus Berkeley and Long Beach.

The farther I traveled from poverty, the more fashionable it became to romanticize the conditions I had escaped. I grew up in poverty in Los Angeles and was taken from my mother when I was three. She had immigrated from South Korea, but her life unraveled amid drug addiction. I never met my father and learned only as an adult, through a genetic ancestry test, that he was Mexican. I spent the next several years moving through foster homes and chaotic circumstances. At seventeen, I enlisted in the United States Air Force. After some setbacks, I arrived at Yale at twenty-five and studied on the GI Bill. Along the way, I climbed nearly every rung of the American class ladder. I moved from poverty through working-class and lower-middle-class homes. In the military, I encountered the middle class. At Yale, I was surrounded by the upper-middle class and the wealthy. Moving through these worlds, I noticed that beliefs changed with social class. At Yale, I heard ideas I had never encountered before: abolish the police, empty the prisons, promote polyamory, dismantle traditional marriage, and decriminalize drugs. These ideas were popular among elites, but their costs often fell on communities like the ones where I grew up. I had seen addiction, abuse, neglect, abandonment, and disorder up close. At Yale and later during my Ph.D. at Cambridge, I studied research on class and social status. It helped me understand what I had witnessed and led me to some startling statistics about social class.

You asked for Puerto Vallarta... so here it is. ❤️🇲🇽 You already know what happened to the YouTube channel, but one thing it didn't take away was these trips. Instead of one long travel guide, I'm breaking Puerto Vallarta, and all the Season 3 videos, into short episodes here on Instagram. That way we can dive deeper into every topic and, by the end of this series, you'll know exactly how to plan your own trip. The full video will be available on my Patreon. And trust me... Puerto Vallarta deserves it. Let's be honest... nobody flies all the way to Puerto Vallarta just for the beach. 😂 You come for the energy, the beach clubs, the parties, and the men. You come for walking through the Romantic Zone and feeling like the entire neighbourhood is filled with gay men. You come for meeting people who are keen to grab a drink, dance until sunrise, or take the conversation somewhere a little more private. Puerto Vallarta has a way of turning complete strangers into unforgettable memories, and that's why people keep coming back. I also have to give a huge shoutout to Tryst Puerto Vallarta for making this trip even more unforgettable. Almost everyone staying there was gay, mostly men, and that completely changes your holiday. Not even to mention how beautiful the hotel and its location were. It had one of the most amazing sunsets I've ever seen in my life, right from my room or from the rooftop pool. To every single member of the Tryst team, thank you for making me feel so welcome. I don't recommend it 100%. I recommend it 100000%. ❤️ This Puerto Vallarta series is powered by Sniffies, the best gay app for gay travellers and cruisers like us. Click on the link below and grab one week of Sniffies Pro for free so you can start exploring Puerto Vallarta before you even land. 📍If Puerto Vallarta is on your bucket list, save this reel because this is just the beginning. Tomorrow I'm showing you how to get to Puerto Vallarta and, more importantly, where to stay. #PuertoVallarta #GayPuertoVallarta #GayTravel #GayTraveller

🌅 Embracing Timeless Family Fun in Puglia, Italy 🇮🇹🚲 There's something incredibly magical about exploring the picturesque landscapes of Puglia with your loved ones. 🌿🚴‍♀️ The past few days have been an unforgettable journey filled with classic family activities that have brought us closer together and left us with cherished memories that will last a lifetime. We hopped on four wheels, affectionately known as "bici," and ventured along the breathtaking coastlines of this charming region. 🚲 The salty breeze brushed against our faces, as we pedaled along the sun-kissed shores, the turquoise waves crashing in rhythm beside us. 🌊 The joy in the kids' eyes was palpable as they soaked in the natural beauty surrounding us. Touristic little towns dotted our route, offering us delightful glimpses of local life and architecture that seemed like scenes straight out of a fairytale. 🏰 But it was during those precious moments when we admired the mesmerizing sunset that time seemed to stand still. 🌅 The golden hues painted the sky, creating a backdrop of warmth and wonder that left us all in awe. As we continued our journey into the countryside, we were greeted by the iconic sight of endless olive trees standing proudly and ancient stone walls, whispering tales of history. 🌳 The tranquil ambiance was perfect for reconnecting with nature and each other. Peddling side by side with my hubby filled my heart with immense gratitude and love. ❤️ The shared laughter, the feeling of unity, and the simple joy of being together were absolutely priceless. Puglia had woven its magic on us, and we felt great basking in its warmth. In a world that moves so fast, taking the time to slow down and immerse ourselves in these classic family activities reminded us of the beauty of simplicity and togetherness. 💞 Puglia, you've left an indelible mark on our hearts, and we can't wait to come back and create more treasured moments in your embrace. #PugliaAdventures #FamilyTime #BiciAlongTheCoast #SunsetMagic #CherishedMemories #LoveAndLaughter #UnforgettableJourney #ExploreWithKids #FeelingBlessed #ItalyTravel #DiscoverPuglia

Eating isn’t just something we do because we have to. Food is part of who we are, how we spend time with friends and family and connect to our culture. I’m a Greek immigrant. Many of my best memories are from my childhood in Athens, where my mother loved to cook. My sister and I would come home from school, and we’d sit around the kitchen table for long meals that always ended with walnuts dipped in Greek honey. To this day, I take every opportunity to recreate these cherished moments around the table with family and friends. How and what we eat is one of five daily behaviors we focus on at Thrive – along with sleep, movement, managing stress and connecting with others – to improve our health. With the new Thrive Global Global Cookbook, our aim is to share simple, healthy and delicious recipes and ways that can make healthy eating affordable, easy and fun. With over 60 breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack and drink recipes from renowned chefs and food experts, including Ina Garten, Chef José Andrés 🕊️🥘🍳, Daniel Humm, Diane Kochilas, Candice Kumai and Mona Vand, as well as dozens of creative swaps and tips for healthy eating, cooking and shopping curated by Tess Bredesen, Thrive’s Nutrition Director, the Thrive Global Cookbook helps readers plan and prepare easy-to-make meals with nutritious, budget-friendly ingredients. I hope the recipes in this cookbook show how you can make easy and affordable meals that are both delicious and healthy. We are proud to partner with Blue Shield of CA Promise Health Plan to bring this cookbook to so many people. And especially meaningful to me in this holiday season is that the Thrive Global Foundation is teaming up with SharkNinja to not only give out the cookbook but also kitchen appliances, like blenders, food processors and cookware, to empower people to prepare these nourishing recipes with ease.
