We are excited to announce an optimized Windows 11 experience to help developers build and ship faster. Here are the highlights 🧵

WSL containers - a built-in way to create, run and interact with Linux containers using familiar CLI & API

Intelligent Terminal - intentionally brings context-aware intelligence to your favorite agents directly into a terminal based experience to help debug errors and run multi-step tasks so you can stay in your flow

Windows Developer Configurations - powered by WinGet, sets up a distraction-free dev environment with VS Code, GitHub Copilot, WSL, PowerShell 7 and developer-optimized settings with one command on any Windows 11 device.

Going full POSIX would be a serious game changer. You could kill Mac all over again.

Everything but implement a bash-like shell, nobody uses PowerShell

I mean it's time to stop to do like Linux but do directly Linux. Windows need to migrate as UNIX-like kernel with POSIX actually. Simulate Linux with aliases between Linux commands and PS commands, using WSL, it's too fat.

Apologize to him, the guy was right all along.

None of this matters until you go bash as default.

To be precise, this is a rewrite of coreutils in Rust called uutils, not the original coreutils 🤡

bro FINALLY. this is like 10 years overdue. I guess the lightbulbs are starting to turn on at microsoft.

I couldn’t care any less about Linux.

Please add 'cat' command, I don't want to use notepad to see text files.

Why not just use Linux then?

You forgot to publish it to winget?

wow great, you give us linux tools for windows, are you dumb or dumber?

Posix incoming?

Nice. But really, just go all the way and give us zsh.

i always type "clear" or "ls" in the wrong os

How about also just having REAL cURL built in and not that dumb invoke-webrequest alias
