Any chance at all that the Angels take him at 2? They usually wait until the later rounds to take prep arms, but he seems different than the top prep arms the last couple of years.

Carson Montgomery was fantastic today. SNK sat 95-98 MPH, was still touching 98 in his 4th inning. SNK command was superb, allowed him to sequence with the slider. SL was wipeout at 83-86 MPH. Also tossed in a few cutters and changeups. 6 Ks, 0 BBs, 2 H, 51 P, 80% strikes (!!).

I went back and looked at Roki Sasaki’s preseason start from 3/19/22, almost exactly two years ago. He was touching 100 mph that start and allowed a grand slam to Kazuma Okamoto on a 99 mph pitch, so his velo is definitely behind this year.

Here’s a few hitting tips from Ken Griffey Jr when he made an appearance on MLB Network. Ted Williams used to wait on his pitch and Ken Griffey Jr. is the best example of hitting "his pitch" marked by his trademark swing thru the ball to wherever the pitcher made the mistake. We never really knew if it was Griffey Jr.'s core development or his hands quite similar to how Pete Rose swatted at "his pitch."
