How come we can say that both side wants peace while it was the Greek Cypriot people who refused the 2004 UN peace plan? This is not solvable as long as Greek Cypriots desires to be the sole ruler in the island and continues to force school children to praise EOKA terrorists

The Cyprus problem will be solved when both parts agree to drive on the right side of the road.

Lovely idea but somewhat naive sadly. There is an element of ‘holy war’ in that the Islamist Erdogan wants to recreate the Caliphate and expel all Christians from the land. Lets just call it for what it is.

Which international problems were already solved by Mr. Sachs?

sachs is a absolute legend in political analysm and he is also absolutely naive the same time believing that turkey has any interest other than reinstate a neoottoman empire and reconquer all lost teritories. we watch in real time a 2nd nazigermany "lebensraum" ideology unfold

It is extremely tiresome to keep seeing Türkiye painted as the obstacle to a solution in Cyprus. It reflects a lack of research more than anything. Türkiye backed a federal settlement from 1974 to 2017, supported the Annan Plan and supported the talks at Crans-Montana. Let's not forget who rejected the Annan Plan…

I agree. It is completely solvable. Almost 20 years ago we had a real opportunity to solve it w/ Annan Plan. We held a referendum asking both sides if they wanted to unify & enter EU together as a single country. The Greek side rejected the plan & Turks left behind.

If you see that as an invasion, we don't see a solution.

Well you are a fool if you guys are expecting one aided solution! There was referandum years ago and southern side refused for unity! Also, you guys are lucky because it is Turkiye as peace was kept going for many years. There could have been war if it was another country.
