The City of Santa Monica has now given Waymo until Nov. 26 to cease overnight operations at Santa Monica lots due to complaints. The city has received more than 40 complaints about the Broadway facilities through its 3-1-1 system since the beginning of the year, from at least 15 separate individuals. Residents say they hear vehicles beeping when reversing, with reports of 12, 24, 40 or even 85 consecutive beeps at all hours of the night. Other complaints include ticking, clicking and "swooshing" sounds from vehicles in both lots, as well as loud employee conversations.
