This one is so so good, Patrick. I learned so much. Allum is a great guest. I’m so happy you talked about online censorship. So many people who participated in the Woke DEI industry, especially in academia and the press, like Jon Haidt, are all in for censorship now, ostensibly to protect the children, the children. Really, they just want to be able to censor the little guys like me who are telling the truth about how they did nothing for the past decade but push BLM race hoaxes. Of course, the truth is misinformation now. No matter what, Elon is a hero for buying Twitter. The discussion about AI as a free speech issue was incredible.

Mo was one of the first people to come on this podcast and warn me about AI, long before most of the world was talking about it. At the time, it felt early. Now, it feels like the world is catching up to what he was seeing. I’m still trying to understand what AI actually means for our lives. Not just whether it can write emails, create images or make us more productive. I mean what it does to jobs. What it does to power. What it does to education. What it does to human connection… That’s why I wanted to have this discussion with Mo again. What makes Mo worth listening to is that he saw these systems inside Google years before most of us had even heard the term AI. His book *Scary Smart* now feels like it was written for this exact moment. Let me explain why this discussion matters. Mo believes we’re not just entering an AI revolution. I just found this video from 1998 when I attended this talk by Rupert Sheldrake, Terence McKenna and Ralph Abraham at the University of California, Santa Cruz to explore how machine intelligence might evolve in relation to our own. In this conversation, it was explored whether intelligence is best understood as logic and computation, or as something embodied, participatory, and alive. Can the mind be reduced to code, or does life itself depend on forms of knowing that no algorithm can contain? AI now outpace us in speed, reach, and memory. Yet the deeper mystery is not how far they can go, but what they reveal about mind and ourselves. Will AI reproduce the limitations of our mechanistic worldview, or might it help us rediscover dimensions of mind that transcend machinery altogether? It's striking how near we now are to the possibilities we once only speculated about. Quantum computing, self-learning systems, large language models very much as Terence describes—and the looming prospect of superintelligence—have moved from the margins to the mainstream. But the heart of the conversation remains just as relevant today, if not more so: what is consciousness, and how might we participate in its unfolding evolution?

I just found this video from 1998 when I attended this talk by Rupert Sheldrake, Terence McKenna and Ralph Abraham at the University of California, Santa Cruz to explore how machine intelligence might evolve in relation to our own. They have many AI researchers, in fact 50% of the world’s AI researchers are in China. And they develop very good AI technology. In fact, the most popular AI models in the world today, open-source models, are from China. So, they are moving very, very fast. The United States has to continue to move incredibly fast.
