Yes anime is not American culture because it is Japanese. But what does Hollywood or the conservative movement have to offer these days that doesn't shove ThE mEsSaGe down your throat and belittling men as problematic? Unless American cinema offers good stories again that respects its characters, its own world, and inspires greatness & virtue, Americans (especially young men) will continue to turn to anime. Ironically the Japanese treat European mythology and Western lore with more respect than contemporary Hollywood does. Of course American patriots who love their country and Western civilization would gravitate towards that. As people say, be the American the Japanese think you are.

Make sure to read my article about Frieren from a few weeks ago, I go in depth about these kinds of topics!

Yes, I'll take a Japanese studio representing my country than any traitor Western woke studio. 100%

Absolutely incredible examples of western culture found in anime When I see how they portray Americans, they’re definitely not afraid to be either serious or stereotype, both I prefer over hollywoods portrayal

Based

Anime has been a fundamental part of American culture ever since the late 90s when it was broadcast from 5:00 AM–7:00 AM on network television. Millions of kids woke up and watched Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon, and Pokemon while eating their cereal. That was the turning point IMO.

Bro such a throwback 😭😭😭

I am not a morning person and I had to be at work at 7:00 AM, so I'd often have to get up at like 4:00 AM in the 90s. I also got my love of M*A*S*H, because FOX broadcast 2 episodes every weekday at 4:00 and 4:30. I feel spoiled looking at the slop on TV now.

I prefer the anime over the historically inaccurate western depiction. Lol

Everyone does

I’m no anime fan but I appreciate how Japanese orchestras still wanna play Beethoven and Bach whereas Western orchestras do world premieres of random atonal slop that’s meant to make a “statement about society” but not a single person remembers the piece after it premieres

One character motivated an entire generation of western boys to be better versions of themselves.

Matt Walsh really does not like anime.

Matt Walsh is culturally illiterate as well. Plenty of Western culture, more specifically, American culture, has its roots deeply into Anime. Ghost in the Shell? Blade Runner Cowboy Bebop? Love letter to American Cinema Frieren and Delicious in a Dungeon? Western Fantasy.

Be the American the Japanese think you are :)

He did a whole video about Anime being demonic. 🙄 Dunno where he gets this boomer take from. I'm older than he is and Dragonball Z, Kenshin, Evangelion, and Cowboy Bebop was my lineup after every damn day of highschool.

Meanwhile western culture in reality

Matt Walsh on anything culture shows, sport, etc might as well be a 90 year old man that doesnt own a radio. Anime especially for anyone under 40 has been in American culture for ever.

I sometimes wish that American propagan- I mean media was managed by the Japanese rather than the current ethnic vanguard.

I don’t get why people think this disproves his point Just because you personally like it doesn’t mean it is part of your culture “Culture” doesn’t just mean “good”

anime is way more western than western is now hands down. Thank you Japan

Shows a scene of a royal European tradition not american

If someone from the West went onto Netflix and watched the show Love through a Prism.. they would immediately be reminded just how beautiful western culture was pre WW1. It’s a work of art - there’s ZERO chance something like that could be done in the West.

That’s not a depiction of American culture.

Yeah I guess I never really thought about it or noticed it consciously but Japanese animators treat western culture with a lot more respect and dignity than our own media does.

@saegerart It strikes me that the Japanese have a profound respect for tradition and culture. This isn’t to say they are champions of the West, but they often show greater appreciation for Western culture than many who live in the West.

Counterpoint all of code grass showing the west to be violent conquerers that regularly slaughter civilians.

You're as censorious as he is, just about different things.

Japan is the most BASED country in the world right now. Poland being a close second.

I've said it a bunch of times but as long as you're aware of what is being portrayed in a given anime, it can be a FANTASTIC teaching tool for kids. Unfortunately this is apparently beyond most parents' ability or desire to accomplish. Walsh is a know-nothing goober on this.

How I feel seeing foreigners respect me more than my Kinsmen

Japan romanticized The West when you watch their Isekai animes. European clothing, buildings and medevil times. The west doesn't romanticize anything with their media.

like always, anime got popular because it was culture war addicts on the losing side way of coping about western entertainment...... eaiser to invade a whole culture than fix the problems from within

@apollonaut_ Tbf the first pic is Western culture portrayed by jews

This actually hurt something deep down in me. Anime showing the beauty of western culture. Looking up to western culture. Encouraging western culture. Then I see what we’ve been making and it destroys me. Have we no love for our own culture?

Most western media is made people people who hate themselves and their culture. Anime sees the best in the West and brings that to the front. We should all strive to be the Western people Anime thinks we can be.

It's true. Western academics complain about orientalism - the exoticisation of Asian culture by Westerners. But you only need to watch Studio Ghibli to see the Japanese doing the same to Europe in reverse. And it's beautiful.

The western show is an actual good show and its based on a fantasy book you fucking lying grifter

Western culture is still well portrayed by Westerners if it's chick movies
