I am not "as American" as Americans who have been here for generations. There is nothing hateful nor degrading about acknowledging or saying that those descended from Jamestown or Plymouth Rock have more of a claim to this country than I do as a Korean immigrant. America is their birthright and heritage; I am but a guest. And becoming American requires assimilation, but that takes time. It doesn’t happen overnight, and cannot happen in one generation. It happens over generations through marriage, loyalty to the nation, and adoption of the nation’s customs.

Black Twitter keeps telling us to mind our own business that they’ll police their own community. But they don’t. They shrug when black children get shot in drive-throughs or when a black man stabs an innocent black grandma in the throat on a train. No outrage. No accountability. And their dysfunction and violence has been trickling to affect others as a result for years now. Black fatigue isn’t about irrational hatred for a certain race. It’s about your refusal to fix garbage behavior and instead demanding we all change ours to accomodate yours. We are indeed judging by the content of character, not the color of skin.

They made Aslan rainbow and gave him a woman’s voice not as a creative choice but to blaspheme Jesus Christ. C.S. Lewis did not write Aslan as an allegory for Christ. He wrote him as a supposal: what the Son of God would look like if He were in Narnia. Changing that character into a political mascot is a desecration of Lewis’s work and of Christ Himself. They do not do this to Muhammad. They do not do this to Vishnu. They do it to Jesus because they know exactly who He is. He is God.

Here’s a very basic breakdown of Korean politics. In Korea, the left is pro-China, pro-North Korea, more multicultural, feminist, and anti-America. The right is pro-America, anti-China, anti-North Korea, more skeptical of immigration, and anti-feminist. Korean politics is still stuck in Cold War dynamics because of the legacy of the Korean War. The left wants to be nice to North Korea and pretend there’s no threat. The right knows we’re still technically at war. But social issues like immigration and feminism are starting to matter more, and the divide is slowly starting to look more like the West.
