A driver led police on a pursuit Sunday evening around 7 p.m. after initially fleeing a traffic stop in East Bethel for equipment and seatbelt violations. State Patrol first attempted the stop near Highway 65 and Viking Blvd. NE after noticing the vehicle had no rear lights and the driver was not wearing a seatbelt. The driver fled and began driving the wrong way southbound in the northbound lanes of Highway 65. Troopers discontinued the pursuit due to safety concerns. The driver later corrected, and Anoka County deputies re-engaged the pursuit in Blaine. Authorities say the driver again drove the wrong way on Highway 65, continuing onto County Rd. 10 and then Interstate 694 before exiting onto Lexington Ave. in Shoreview, where Ramsey County deputies took over. The pursuit continued south on Lexington Ave. N. to Highway 36, then west to Interstate 35W into Minneapolis. Deputies successfully deployed stop sticks, but the driver continued at a high rate of speed and the pursuit was again called off. The vehicle exited into downtown Minneapolis, where dispatchers lost visual tracking through traffic cameras. Officers are searching the area for the driver, and the State Patrol airplane will be overhead to assist shortly.

Sheriff Darren Weekly said, "This video shows the dangers our deputies face and the dedication they have to protecting the residents of Douglas County. High-Speed Pursuit Ends in Deadly Officer-Involved Shooting On April 28, 2026, at approximately 2:37 p.m., in Olympia, Thurston County, Washington, a Thurston County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted a traffic stop on Yelm Highway Southeast for a vehicle traveling about 90 mph in a 35 mph zone.The driver, Todd Bass, 44, of Lacey, fled, leading to a high-speed pursuit. Both the deputy’s vehicle and Bass’s vehicle crashed near Morse-Merryman Road Southeast and Hoffman Road Southeast in the 3200 block, close to Margaret McKenny Elementary School, just after 2:40 p.m. Bass fled on foot into a nearby backyard. Deputies heard shots fired. Three TCSO deputies — Civil Service Deputy Jordan Goss, 33 (12 years with the department); Patrol Deputy Marlon Wakefield, 30 (7 years); and Patrol Deputy Jacob Domeno, 27 — pursued on foot and fired, striking Bass. Suspected impaired driver flees deputies in Putnam County with his two children unsecured in the car Deputies observed Montrell Lewis swerving and crossing the median Thursday night and attempted a traffic stop. Lewis fled, took a back road, and was stopped only after his truck got stuck. Inside the truck, deputies found Lewis’s two children, 51 grams of oxycodone, and 302 grams of marijuana. Lewis was booked and the children were released to a family member.

At around 12:15 p.m., deputies responded to a shots-fired call at Shelby Farms. Deputies arrived and found a person had been shot. The Memphis Fire Department transported the person in critical condition to the hospital. We are asking everyone to avoid the area. This is an active investigation.

Douglas County Deputies Assist in DUI Pursuit with Successful Grappler Deployment In the early hours of October 4, 2025, at approximately 4:22 A.M., Douglas County Deputies responded to assist the Aurora Police Department in pursuit of a suspected DUI driver traveling westbound on E-470, passing Gartrell Road. Douglas County deputies responded immediately and set up two sets of stop sticks along E-470 in an attempt to bring the pursuit to a safe conclusion. Despite these efforts, the suspect vehicle continued westbound. A Douglas County Deputy, operating a patrol vehicle equipped with the Grappler device, joined the pursuit along with another deputy. After positioning behind the suspect, both maneuvered to the front of the pursuit. The suspect vehicle, which struck the concrete barrier multiple times, was ultimately stopped when our deputy successfully deployed the Grappler just west of South Quebec Street. The vehicle was brought to an immediate and controlled stop. The suspect was compliant and taken into custody by Aurora Police without incident. Sheriff Weekly said, “I am proud of the seamless coordination between our deputies and our partners at APD. This incident highlights the power of innovative tools like the Grappler. By effectively deploying cutting-edge technology, we’re able to bring dangerous situations to a safe conclusion while minimizing risk to the public. NEW: Father of the year abandons crying 4-year-old during foot chase while fleeing deputies On June 9, 2026, Orange County deputies tried to stop 24-year-old Jason Kenon over an active probation violation warrant. He refused to stop and led them on a reckless vehicle pursuit, striking an SUV during the chase. Kenon eventually stopped, grabbed a 4-year-old child, and ran on foot. He later abandoned the crying child while continuing to flee from deputies. Deputies quickly caught up with him and rescued the child, who was shaken but uninjured. Last night, #DCSO patrol deputies demonstrated exceptional skill, teamwork, and coordination in recovering a stolen vehicle and apprehending two suspects. The driver tried to get away, but was caught after a short pursuit that ended on Castle Pines Parkway and I25. No one was injured. Two suspects were taken into custody and are facing multiple charges. We commend our deputies for their dedication to keeping Douglas County safe. #HonorServiceValor
