Quick thinking #DCSO deputies catch another auto theft suspect. On Monday night, patrol deputies responded to a report of an in-progress vehicle theft on Mill Vista Road in Highlands Ranch. Responding deputies quickly established a perimeter and began searching the area. The vehicle was located, occupied, in a parking garage on Mill Vista Road. Upon observing law enforcement in the area, the suspect vehicle attempted to back out of a parking space. The deputy activated the patrol vehicle's emergency lights and pulled forward to signal the suspect to stop. The suspect vehicle accelerated forward, scraping, and colliding with the front passenger side push bumper of the patrol vehicle. The vehicle ran a stop sign and sped away. Deputies pursued the vehicle for a short distance, and the suspect vehicle spun out of control and rolled backwards into a metal railing, where it was pinned in place by deputies. The suspect, later identified as Armon Chism (DOB: 05/15/1982), of Denver, fled from the vehicle, and a short foot pursuit was initiated by pursuing deputies. The suspect was placed into custody after a successful taser deployment. While conducting their investigation, deputies were able to establish probable cause that Chism was a suspect in an earlier vehicle pursuit of a stolen Hyundai Tucson at the intersection of Colorado Boulevard and County Line Road. Chism was found to be in possession of the stolen Hyundai ignition key and the vehicle was recovered nearby. Chism was booked into the Douglas County Jail for investigation of Motor Vehicle Theft, Vehicular Eluding, Obstructing a Peace Officer, Possession of a Controlled Substance (Fentanyl), Protection Order Violation, and Criminal Impersonation. Douglas County Sheriff Darren Weekly said, “We will not allow criminals to victimize Douglas County residents. We are committed to ensuring the safety and security of our community will continue to work tirelessly to protect our residents and their property. Houston, Texas — Police Officers were dispatched to a crash on the freeway and learned that there had been a minor vehicle crash involving three vehicles. Two of the vehicles remained on the scene however a third vehicle had fled the location. Officers then moved the crash off the freeway and put a general broadcast over the radio for the possible third vehicle – a green SUV. Additional officers were able to locate the green SUV vehicle in the area and officers made contact with the driver. As the officers attempted to detain the driver of the green SUV for the crash investigation, the driver lifted his shirt up, reached for a visible gun in his waistband and pulled out the weapon. Two officers then discharged their duty weapons more than once, striking the suspect. Officers began to render aid to the suspect until Houston Fire Department paramedics arrived. The suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A man told authorities he had his three children in a trunk as he was being arrested for DUI in Colorado. Police officers pulled over the vehicle after they witnessed the driver, Thomas Michael Raiola, on January 23. Authorities said the responding officer noticed the smell of alcohol and asked the driver to perform a voluntary roadside maneuver, which he at first accepted but then changed his mind. When police placed Raiola in handcuffs, he stated, “My kids are in the trunk.” Police said there were freezing temperatures during the stop, but the kids were unharmed. Several bottles of alcohol were recovered from inside the car. The suspect was arrested on suspicion of DUI, reckless driving, failure to provide a valid insurance and three counts of child abuse, and transported to Adams County Jail. Authorities said that CPS was contacted and the kids were released to family members.

He then proceeds to kick the vehicle and challenge the driver to a brawl. The driver gets out for a minute and has words with the attacker before getting back into his vehicle to drive off. The man then steps in front of the vehicle as the driver floors it, giving him a ride on the hood of his car for the length of the parking lot. Play stupid games……

Newly released video shows Utah County sheriff’s deputies and Utah Highway Patrol troopers stopping a wrong-way driver on I-15 early last month. According to the original incident report, two deputies responded to an agency assist after reports of a vehicle traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of I-15 near mile marker 263. Deputies located the vehicle near mile marker 269. One deputy struck the driver’s side of the vehicle, spinning it into another deputy’s patrol car, which prevented the wrong-way vehicle from reentering traffic. Both deputies and both occupants of the vehicle were not injured. All three vehicles sustained damage. Utah Highway Patrol took over the crash investigation and investigated the driver for DUI. The Utah County Sheriff’s Office said the incident happened shortly after 4 a.m. on Jan. 24, calling wrong-way driving a recurring and dangerous problem on Utah roadways. The sheriff’s office praised the deputies for putting themselves in harm’s way and said it is grateful no one was hurt. UHP continues to handle the crash and DUI investigation.
