🇵🇰 🇨🇳 14th CPEC JCC Meeting Opens in Beijing – Pakistan and China Enter a New Phase of Cooperation The 14th Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) meeting of CPEC began in Beijing with the participation of senior officials from Pakistan and China, including ministers, line ministries, and sectoral experts. The session is co-chaired by the Planning Ministers of both countries. Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal said Pakistan and China are “iron brothers,” bound by trust and a shared destiny. He noted that CPEC Phase-II will usher in a new era of people- and youth-centered development. Highlighting progress under CPEC Phase-I, he said 8,000 MW of power generation, 888 km of highways, and Gwadar’s transformation from a fishing town into Pakistan’s maritime gateway have been achieved. The modernization of ML-1 will revitalize Pakistan Railways, he added. Key proposals presented by Ahsan Iqbal include: 10,000 PhD scholarships for Pakistani youth in Chinese universities. Innovation centers and internships in Chinese institutions for skill development. Adopting China’s poverty alleviation model in Pakistan’s underdeveloped districts. Market access for Pakistan’s exports in China similar to ASEAN countries. Establishment of export-based SEZs in Karachi and Islamabad. Linking every corridor of CPEC Phase-II to export-driven targets. He outlined the five new corridors under CPEC Phase-II: Growth, Innovation, Green, Livelihood, and Regional Connectivity. Islamabad: JUI Chief Maulana Fazl ur Rehman attended the 3rd Joint Consultative Meeting (JCM) of Political Parties of Pakistan and China on #CPEC, held today in Islamabad. The event was co-chaired by the Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan and Mr. Liu Jianchao, Minister of International Department of the Communist Party of China. Maulana Fazl ur Rehman: There is a consensus in Pakistan regarding Pak-China relations. Pak-China friendship has always transcended our political differences. Pakistan attaches importance to peaceful co-existence and cooperative relations in the region and supports progress towards it. Pakistan believes in peaceful and equitable resolution of disputes. We are grateful that China has always supported Pakistan unconditionally on the Kashmir issue and Pakistan has also always supported China unconditionally on the Taiwan issue. Pak-China relations, which were mentioned by the speakers before me, is a shared vision of all of us and I am proud that JUI Pakistan and CPEC are friends and we want to make this friendship meaningful and see it beneficial for the people of both countries. The credit for the progress made in this regard also goes to the Parliament of Pakistan and the CPC when in 1995 the CPC (China) invited the Foreign Committee of the National Assembly of Pakistan and briefed us on the new economic vision. Then on behalf of Pakistan, we presented Pakistan's "Trade Via Pakistan" concept. And for seven days, we discussed this topic in every meeting continuously, and after seven days, the CPEC informed our delegation that they supported the proposal. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has departed for Beijing to co-chair, with Foreign Minister Wang Yi, the 7th Pakistan–China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue on 4 January 2026. The DPM/FM is the first foreign dignitary to visit China in 2026, at the invitation of the Chinese Foreign Minister. ISLAMABAD: 3 June 2026. H.E. Amb. Jiang Zaidong, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Pakistan, called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister House today. Adviser to the Prime Minister Dr. Syed Tauqir Shah, SAPM Syed Tariq Fatemi and Foreign Secretary Amb. Amna Baloch were also present. The Prime Minister conveyed his warm regards and best wishes to President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang and fondly recalled his most productive and substantive meetings with the Chinese leadership during his recent visit to China. While conveying his firm resolve to ensure the further strengthening of Pakistan-China All Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership, the Prime Minister emphasized the need to immediately initiate necessary actions for follow up on the important decisions taken during his visit to China. He particularly stressed upon the need to expand cooperation in key areas under CPEC 2.0, particularly agriculture, IT, industries, including SEZs, and mines & minerals. The Prime Minister further stressed upon the need to ensure timely follow-up of the various MoUs signed between Pakistani and the Chinese companies, at the B2B Investment Conference, held in Hangzhou, during his visit.
