modern cars are basically really sturdy steel pods that crumple like tinfoil in a crash, like they're supposed to, almost none of the impact actually reaches you unlike the steel behemoths of yesterye

Of course, I'm only guessing I would think the older Impala would have an 800 - 1000 lb weight advantage but still does poorly by comparison.
