Crazy that this guy wouldn't be considered conventionally attractive in India because he isn't fair, colourism has cooked our sense of self worth.

Ok i have to add something else because i didn't think this was gonna blow up. Indian women especially dark skinned women have to face the brunt of colourism since beauty standards are more strictly applied to them than men in a patriarchal society like ours.

Although dark skinned male protagonists are absent in bollywood films in south indian movies dark skinned male protagonists are represented but the same couldn't be said for dark skinned women actresses even in south indian cinema. There's definitely an imbalance.

My main point of this post was to oppose colourism as a community together, both dark skinned men and women need better representation in indian media.

Bollywood is so savarna coded that they cast light skinned actors to play historically dark skinned people. South indian film industries are our only hope.
