Crazy what AI agents can do right now. I asked Claude Code to autonomously code me a Gold strategy from scratch inside NinjaTrader 8. It compiled it, debugged it on its own, ran the backtest, and came back with a profitable system. Probably only 0.1% of the industry is...

I don't believe it Most likely it performs well on historical data, but is random at best with new data. Agents are not that good at developing profitable trading strategies, as they tend to stick "default" statistical measures like RSI and hope for the best 😄 If it was that easy - everyone would do it, thus erasing any alpha Your model is most likely overfitting

ZenomTrader's profile picture
ZenomTrader8 months ago

Definitely not random. It’s based on academic papers. Overfitting doesn’t exist in finance, it’s an academic invention by people who have never placed a trade.

illya gerasymchuk 📈's profile picture

Yeah - all academia people that write papers are trading billionaires, right? 😉 Your statement regarding overfitting is just wrong. Overfitting is one of the biggest problems in finance strategies, and the people who write your favorite academic papers agree. I can also make an ML model that has 100% trading success on backtesting, but fails on new data. You also say that overfitting is invented by academia and then say that your strategies are based on academic papers? 😄 You can easily prove that your automated strategy is profitable by either publishing the strategy or making predictive calls here on X. This would be faster than answering me, but if your strategy doesn't perform better than chance on real data, I understand why you haven't done so yet

This is my verified track record $500k in investor capital. I think underfitting is a problem in finance

illya gerasymchuk 📈's profile picture

Your track record is not verified. An image with a graph does not constitute proof. I can fabricate an image with any numbers you want (see attached example from my own fund, which is totally real because you can see it in the image 😄) Once again, you can easily prove the validity of your models/positions by sharing public calls or revealing your models/strategies. You seem to be doing everything but that - text, images, etc 😄 If your track record is really so good, it's also not clear why you are selling $80 signal group memberships on discord. This is in no way the norm in the industry and it doesn't make sense in terms of alpha retention.

@ZenomTrader His track-record is verified by a regulated third-party (Darwinex). Link below: 🔗 He is also a member of the ATA. Link below: 🔗

@ZenomTrader No it's not The website you sent literally states that the funds are VIRTUAL, not real 😂 If this is the source for their "Verifying $500K CUM", then they are outright lying.

@ZenomTrader @FXPhysics you are also being deceitful, as DarwinxZero clearly states that they are not regulated Let me guess - you are a part of @ZenomTrader 's networks or perhaps even the same individual 😉

This is usually posted by people with little coding or quant experience. AI will overfit a strategy to past data, look great in backtests, and then fail fast when deployed. Letting an LLM build systems without proper structure and validation leads to bad results.

I found it faster with python, claude can run backtests and optimization faster, and then ask it to translate it to nt8

I will try with Lean

You still need to come up with ideas to a system, the code was never a bottle neck.

ZenomTrader's profile picture

That’s true, or you can just code papers, but i imagine the papers stop working with this tech.

I also gave DeepSeek a few months ago my data insights about EURUSD and asked it to construct a profitable strategy around that. It delivered something very abstract and robust. profitable 2010- present. Something i didn't expect to work.

I used to use NinjaTrader 8. I am now using Sierra Chart. The backesting in Sierra is laborious when using order flow algorithms. Do you do any substantive backtesting using compute heacy order flow algorithms in NinjaTrader 8?

Backtests always look profitable. The real question is whether it survives live spreads, slippage and regime changes that never showed up in historical data.

@Zenomtrader - Impressive demo of the power of AI agents in backtesting. But there is a critical gap between "profitable backtest with Claude" and "institutionally operable system." The process you celebrate omits the most important layer: governance. 🧵

highly doubt it is actually a profitable strategy when you validate with forward walking and include fees.

Impressive — especially the full loop: ideation → coding → debugging → backtest. The real risk edge will soon be validation & regime robustness, not strategy creation.

This is next-level AI agents aren’t just tools anymore - they’re full collaborators Having Claude Code autonomously build, debug, and backtest a trading strategy is something almost nobody in the industry is doing right now

Yes do it…then you realize it’s a bunch of overfit, over optimized trash that falls apart in live trading.

I’ll save you some heartache and tell you first hand that the NT Backtester is horribly inaccurate. The only worse model is TradingView. I compared my backtest to my LIVE data and it was night and day (+$700 day vs -$225 actual). Backtests must be done manually. Good luck.

Remember guys, if it was truly profitable, they wouldn't be on X posting about it and shilling monthly access to online communities. They'd be keeping it to themselves.

Well if you have been trading long you know what works. Then you start trying to build the bot and you really find out if it works more than it doesn’t. Ideas come from you code comes from🤖. I have plenty of ideas that did bad so far one that does make money

What does it say about the future of trading when AI can create profitable systems without human intervention? Can humans even keep up with the pace of AI-driven development? It raises questions about the role of human traders.

How long will the logic be valid if everyone can devise a similar strategy? There will certainly be measurable and predictable backlash from critical mass of investors using A.I. for stock and materials.

profitable backtest is cool until you deploy it live and the agent decides to retry a failed order 500 times because it has no memory of previous attempts seen this exact scenario with trading bots. order fails, agent retries, fails again, keeps going. by the time you notice youve hit position limits or blown through margin. built state tracking specifically for this. if the agent tries the same order params 3 times and all fail it stops instead of looping. cant trust the LLM to remember what it already tried especially when real money is on the line. backtests dont show you what happens when the agent gets stuck at 3am retrying a broken trade.

Nobody in the history of prop firm trading has built what i built in 6 weeks with autonomous agents. Over 1,000,000 lines of code across 17 projects. Zero lines written manually. Claude Code and Codex did everything. I described what i wanted and the agents coded, compiled, debugged and deployed it while i was sleeping, eating, running, buying an apartment. The full list is insane and i still can't believe it. A trading dashboard that destroys every commercial tool in the industry. Prop firm simulator, hedge detection engine, correlation matrices, multi-portfolio simulation across firms, payout certificates. Built by one person from Romania in his apartment. Two autonomous backtesting bridges. NinjaTrader 8 and MetaTrader 5 running in parallel. They compile, debug, and backtest without me touching a single button. i wake up to new equity curves. A Meta EA with 12 strategies. Gold, Nasdaq, USDJPY, Bitcoin. Mean reversion, trend following, breakout. All running simultaneously in one script. Sharpe 2.17. a full hedge fund in a single file. An AI clone of myself answering support tickets on my premium community 24/7 in my exact voice. Trained on everything i ever said. it speaks every language and never sleeps. Voice control from anywhere in my apartment. Screenshot automation in 0.1ms. A phone bridge so i control my entire infrastructure from my pocket. A tweet engine scoring virality. 5 custom AI tools i designed from scratch. 9,000 in prop firm fees turned into 130,000+ in payouts in the last 6 months. 41% CAGR verified with private investor capital. 74 premium members at 80/month. Show me one person who did more in 6 weeks. I will wait.
