Creepiest theme tune ever? #scarredforlife

I raise you -

Tales of the Unexpected 👻🤮😓 I used to run from the room as a kid every time the theme tune/opening credits came on the TV 🥶 freaked me out. Creepiest, shittiest repeats ever. Shld hv stayed in the 70s/early 80s where it belonged 🤢 Too traumatic 😬

Armchair Thriller for me

The start of Jamie & the Magic Torch is up there with scary theme tunes too 🔦

World in Action

Remember the big telly being wheeled in to the classroom to watch this

I think it’s sublime! Here’s the full track. It gets weirder.

I’ll see your Picture Box and raise you Tales of The Unexpected 🙌🙌🙌

Aren't you forgetting..................

The Tomorrow People

You only saw this when you were wagging school.

100% Tales of the Unexpected.. no contest.

No, The Book Tower *shudder*

I knew it would be Picture Box from your wording! 😂

World in Action outro is a belter too.

Brings back memories of being off school ill at home in the 70's stuck on the sofa. Learnt far more from daytime schools programmes than i ever would in class. 😄

Like a pervert’s ice-cream van.

Indeed… nearly as scary as these nutters

That's Quentin Smirhes making that go round. You should get @raghard on the podcast sometime

BUT YOU WANT THE CREEPIEST HIDE BEHIND THE SOFA TITLE TUNE OF A BRITISH TV SHOW EVER... It's this one. Still freaky and plays on my fear of Carnies... It has to be 'Journey To The Unknown', really great shows still worth watching.

'Thriller' in the seventies used to scare me

The theme from Chocky was pretty unnerving, as I recall!

This is pretty creepy and freaked me out

People often say this. I absolutely loved it! Exotic.

A more inspiring watch/‘tune’ courtesy of Thames TV - and Sibelius - in the days before news and current affairs was dumbed down.

Nah

Very nice ident of old? With the now alas late Alan Rothwell in it then also too of course?

Woah. Memory unlocked 🔓

Yes Picture Box used to put the shits up me, when I was pretending to be sick to get kept off school, but I can give you a scarier tune... Ask The Family... I'm not sure if it was the sliding faces or the music which made me hide when this came on.

📷 Quentin Smirhes did the best version

This is certainly up there:

I knew it was going to be this before the video started

Its the rotational melancholy and out of tune organ for me. I remember being slumped on the sofa ill watching that empty ormulu box spin round and round .
