The reason $PLTR has pulled back this year is that it has gone from being viewed as THE AI application winner to AN AI application winner which is a one-letter shift that has completely changed how the market values the stock. At its peak, investors paid nearly 200x earnings because Palantir appeared to be the only public software company clearly converting AI demand into accelerating fundamentals. That multiple has since compressed toward 80x as $SNOW, $DDOG, $MSFT and Databricks prove enterprise AI will have multiple winners.

The Tesla Megapod trademark might be the most important filing nobody is talking about (Save this). Tesla wants to build a product that is basically a self contained AI computer in a box. You truck it somewhere, plug it into power, and it runs AI workloads. The reason this matters is that the AI industry has a problem because you can't build data centers fast enough. Getting land approved, getting power from the grid, getting zoning cleared, that process takes 3–5 years, and demand is moving much faster than that. US data center construction actually fell in 2025 for the first time in years, because developers kept hitting bureaucratic walls. Tesla's answer to that problem is simple. They already own thousands of Supercharger stations across the country and those stations already have land, power, and grid connections, all the hard stuff is done. The idea is to drop a Megapod at those sites and turn idle charging infrastructure into AI compute, almost overnight. What Jason, Chamath, and Friedberg were all circling around is that this drop a box on a concrete pad approach is already how serious companies are deploying AI compute right now. Vertiv and DUG Technology both ship GPU-packed containers that can go live in 90 days and Tesla would just be bringing that idea to a network it already owns. The opportunity is very real whether Tesla is the one to actually execute on it is still an open question.

The Blackwell architecture is sold out through 2027, margins are above 75%, and the data center segment alone is growing faster than most entire companies. AI has started building its own successors. It's happening right now. Humans still kick most of it off, but the models are already training the next models, and each version builds a better version faster than the last. We know what happens when something gets an advantage and the substrate is there... it proliferates incredibly fast. Soon it just runs the whole process itself. People are still debating whether AI takes your job. That's not the question. You can't compete with this intelligence at all. Next to it the human is negative value, the slowest one in the room. And this is the slowest it will ever move again. It's about to run on its own, faster than we can conceive of, and nobody's prepared for that. Wonderful conversation as ever with Emad.
