Crypto succeeds when we stop calling it crypto. GP Guy Wuollet thinks financial services will run on blockchains, just like other businesses now run on the internet. So what gets us there? 00:00 "Everything is computer — except finance" 00:52 From a16z intern to general partner 14:34 How crypto... show more

@guywuolletjr Tokenization gets much more interesting when people stop thinking about the blockchain and start thinking about what it makes possible.

@guywuolletjr Fck no terrible idea.

@guywuolletjr Yes, I agree with the author; crypto isn't yet integrated enough to be considered a separate means of payment worldwide.

@guywuolletjr You and @mozlyxy are my go to finance accounts for this shift.

@guywuolletjr financias sin bancos. eso si me interesa.

@guywuolletjr Can’t wait for “tokenized equities” to just be called equities

@guywuolletjr ¿Y cómo convencemos al resto de que use esto si ni siquiera le gusta el nombre?

@guywuolletjr Like how we stop calling AI AI? #superintelligence

@guywuolletjr eventually when finance fully runs on blockchains the same way everything else runs on the internet, the ‘crypto’ label will feel as outdated as ‘www’.

@guywuolletjr Interesting perspective

@guywuolletjr What should it be called.

@guywuolletjr then make it boring

The line that lands is finance still being the exception. People already move files and photos without thinking about the protocol. They do not move a down payment the same way. Getting there is less about renaming crypto and more about making a closing or a fee feel as ordinary as sending a file.

@guywuolletjr What’s your opinion on Hyperchainlinkization @guywuolletjr?

@guywuolletjr The sober checkpoint for the implementation details is whether users can verify the moving pieces

@guywuolletjr Perps laid the groundwork, but pairing @OptionsLabAI execution with defined risk options is how smart capital stays in the game.

@guywuolletjr Agree, and housing is a good test of it. Nobody buying a home cares what chain the title sits on, they care that closing costs less and takes days instead of weeks.

@guywuolletjr Seperation from common terminology in the early dsys was a death nail

@guywuolletjr Well put. We've seen this before: every infrastructure wave stops being a category and becomes plumbing. Plumbing carrying finance has to survive the bank examiner AND the quantum timeline. The easy part is running finance on blockchains. The hard part is passing both tests.

@guywuolletjr Exactly. Crypto succeeds once it becomes invisible infrastructure.

@guywuolletjr Crypto’s endgame is to become infrastructure, not an industry people consciously “use.”

@guywuolletjr I built an L1 that is potentially compliant with all major regulatory frameworks.

@guywuolletjr When users stop noticing the rails, adoption gets real. For tokens, the hard part is making launch mechanics and liquidity as boring as the product experience.

@guywuolletjr 我去

@guywuolletjr Agree with the framing. Nobody says they're using TCP/IP to buy a house, and the first time a closing settles in minutes with lower fees, nobody will care what chain it ran on. What do you think gets there first, payments or real assets?

@guywuolletjr Must watch. The next era of internet will be onchain.

@guywuolletjr Exactly. Once financial services run on blockchain, the infrastructure becomes more important than the “crypto” label. That’s why I’m watching tokenforge — building the rails for compliant tokenized assets.

@guywuolletjr When users stop noticing the rails, adoption gets real. For tokens, the hard part is making launch mechanics and liquidity as boring as the product experience.
