I don’t think they were coming down anyway. The ‘ponzi’ has always been designed to keep going up.

Don't you mean 'ponzify' a $1.7m house to $2m house ? 🤠😎 🇦🇺 Houses is Australia's only 'manufacturing' industry. 😆

Got quoted $35k for a bathroom reno, managed it myself & it cost $17k. Used different tradies for their specific purpose as well, no tilers doing carpentry & vice versa etc. Couldn’t be happier. The wife now wants the ensuite done, created more work for myself 😞

Stories of High-Quality Development | Old home renovation: How to put an end to the 'mystery box' problem Nowadays, people have higher expectations for their living spaces, but when it comes to home renovation, many still find it a headache. Are the quotes inflated? Will there be hidden add-on costs? How will the final result turn out? Homeowners are full of concerns. How can renovation shed its "mystery box" problem and become more transparent and professional? The answer lies in clear standards and the smart use of technology. In recent years, I have seen changes in the industry. On the one hand, cost has become transparent. Digital quoting systems break down each step of the process in detail, with brand models, construction techniques and individual costs listed item by item, making the expense breakdown as clear as a supermarket receipt. Third-party fund supervision mechanisms hold payments in stages based on the project's progress. Funds are only paid to the contractor after the homeowner inspects and approves each phase, making the entire process more open. On the other hand, the construction process has become transparent. Monitoring platforms allow homeowners to oversee the work online in real time, with live footage of the construction site always accessible. Smart detection instruments use quantitative standards instead of visual checks, making it easier to spot errors. At the same time, a dedicated project coordinator follows every stage, from design and construction to inspection, keeping a close eye on all details. Many say renovation is like a tough battle, demanding both time and effort. But now, standardized processes keep the process in check, and technology has opened up the mystery box. Renovation is becoming simpler, more transparent and less stressful. (Narrator: Xin Guiwu, Home Renovation Designer)

Five months after starting work on this project, Stacey's Sanctuary is finished. I purchased this one-bedroom apartment in September of 2025 with the sole purpose of turning it into a safe haven for domestic violence survivors. The Sanctuary is named after nine-year-old Stacey-Ann Tracy, who was murdered by my stepfather in 1990. This project is part of my commitment to ensuring her name – and legacy – lives on. The Sanctuary is for women needing transitional housing while they save for their own permanent rentals or property purchase. It is safe, secure and fully furnished. The pantry is full of food and the laundry and the bathroom is stockpiled with consumables. There's been a lot support for this project, with Australians donating money, furniture, artwork, food and other consumables, labor and materials. The apartment was styled by You Matter. You Matter also provided the furniture for the bedroom and living area plus smaller items including kitchenware. Plumber Paul Walla did all the plumbing and donated the toilet and bathroom cabinet. My friend Pete helped fix the floors and provided much-needed home renovation guidance Cash donations paid for renovations and all white goods, the new stove top and oven. Donations also covered the electrician costs and safety upgrades. I am still working through the process of partnering with a domestic violence agency to manage the property. I will update once this has been nailed down. ❤️Please consider donating to cover the ongoing costs needed to ensure women have access to this vital housing project. You may also but an item from the RED HEART Tee range, with 100% of profits fully funding my work. Check out

✅Explanation of Meaning (by parts): 1. “A reliable distant future, attainable through progress” : The author envisions a dependable future achieved through human advancement, suggesting that sustained progress in science, technology, and society can create a stable and promising long-term existence. 2. “surpasses the present” : This future is deemed superior to the current era, implying that advancements will enhance quality of life, capabilities, and opportunities beyond what is possible today. 3. “for everything created by humankind will be much more advanced in it” : The author attributes this superiority to the heightened sophistication of human creations, indicating that future innovations in culture, infrastructure, and knowledge will far exceed present achievements. 4. “This future is feasible” : The author asserts that such a future is achievable, emphasizing its realistic potential provided certain conditions are met, framing it as a goal within humanity’s reach. 5. “if the present age consciously strives for a fulfilling life” : Achieving this future requires intentional effort today, with the current generation actively pursuing a life of meaning and satisfaction, suggesting that present actions shape future outcomes. 6. “for the happiness of today and in the name of the Human of the future” : This striving serves dual purposes: fostering immediate happiness and honoring future generations, implying a balance between present well-being and a commitment to humanity’s enduring legacy. 🗝️Main Idea (refined version): The author envisions a reliable, advanced future surpassing the present, achievable through progress if today’s generation consciously pursues a fulfilling life for current happiness and future humanity’s legacy. This dual focus inspires purposeful action, blending immediate joy with long-term responsibility. It challenges humanity to prioritize innovation and ethical progress in the present. By doing so, we lay the foundation for a thriving, sophisticated civilization. This vision fosters hope, uniting today’s efforts with the aspirations of tomorrow’s humans. It underscores the power of collective commitment to shape a lasting, humane future. Ultimately, it calls for a balance of present fulfillment and future-oriented stewardship, ensuring humanity’s enduring greatness.

Friedberg: California Created an Insurance Crisis by Artificially Inflating Home Prices david friedberg broke it down on episode 210: -- the frequency of loss is INCREASING for homes in climate-sensitive zones (areas with wildfires, hurricanes, tornadoes, etc.) -- this includes parts of los angeles susceptible to wildfires -- in a free market, the cost of insurance would rise with the increased risk of loss -- however, california makes it nearly impossible for home insurance providers to increase rates -- this artificially inflates home prices, due to the massively subsidized insurance costs " They're driving real estate value up because they're not allowing the cost of insurance of that real estate to naturally float." " And so by driving real estate values up, the economy looks good, they make property taxes, income comes in." -- but, major insurance providers like state farm pulled out of certain at-risk areas in the state -- for example, state farm canceled ~1600 policies in pacific palisades last summer -- californians living in at-risk areas are now relying on the state's insurance program (the "fair plan") in record numbers -- according to friedberg, the fair plan has ~$220M of capital with ~$5B of reinsurance -- after this string of wildfires, the program has ~$6B of exposure in the pacific palisades alone, and could have $24B+ in total losses -- so, california's state insurance plan is effectively bankrupt, and will need a bailout " At the end of the day, the bill is going to come due." "And at some point, taxpayers are going to look at the fact that they're paying some percentage of their income to support someone else's home value, and they're going to say 'Enough is enough.'"

⭕️ Iran FM Araghchi: Wars End Either Through Total Victory or Negotiations… Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi: 🔹 A war must be ended precisely at the point when you hold the upper hand on the battlefield. Ending a war is possible either through total military victory or through negotiations. The right time to negotiate is exactly when you have achieved reliable military and strategic gains on the battlefield. A politician must always ask this fundamental question: Will continuing the war increase the gains, or only increase the losses? 🔹 Like, for example, what happened to Germany in World War II, meaning that it is occupied, or what happened to Saddam in the war, and other such cases. … Because we don’t have that capability. If you have that capability, then go and finish it. We don’t have that capability. We cannot go and overrun and occupy Israel and America. 🔹 We cannot gamble with people’s lives and the fate of the entire country. Decisions must be based on precise and comprehensive calculations. If you seek to end the war through negotiations in a way that prevents it from recurring, you must act at a time when your strength and upper hand have been firmly established. 🔹In this war, despite some losses, we emerged as a decisive international actor and demonstrated the resilience of the system. Accurately identifying the moment to stop the war and begin negotiations is the most vital and consequential part of crisis management for any official. 🔹 In theory, one must always assess whether continuing the war from the current point will produce stronger gains at the negotiating table, or merely impose heavier human and national costs.

My interview CNN International with Becky Anderson regarding the latest escalation between the United States: First, if President Trump is determined to secure freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz by force, he will eventually confront a fundamental reality: Iran is highly unlikely to relinquish control over the strait voluntarily. Any attempt to fundamentally alter the military balance would likely require operations against Iran's positions along its side of the strait , a far more demanding undertaking than punitive strikes or limited naval operations. Second, the current exchange still appears to be operating within relatively limited boundaries. However, the longer the cycle of retaliation continues, the greater the risk of miscalculation and unintended escalation, even if neither Washington nor Tehran is actively seeking another large-scale war. Third, President Trump's proposal that commercial shipping pay for U.S. protection in the Strait of Hormuz raises difficult questions. Washington has long criticized any attempt by Iran to impose costs or conditions on international navigation. Asking commercial vessels to pay for passage risks creating an uncomfortable contradiction with America's longstanding position in defense of freedom of navigation. Fourth, the Houthi front may prove just as consequential as Hormuz itself. Reports that the Houthis have sought to expand their air bridge with Iran, followed by Saudi military action, increase the likelihood of Houthi retaliation. If that retaliation extends to disrupting traffic through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, the consequences for global energy markets could rival developments in Hormuz. Such a scenario would directly serve Iran's broader objective of increasing pressure on global energy supplies and raising oil prices. Finally, Israel is unlikely to view the collapse of U.S.-Iran diplomacy negatively. At the same time, the current dynamics suggest that neither Washington nor Tehran has a strong interest in bringing Israel directly into the confrontation, since doing so would significantly increase the risk of a broader regional war. #IranWar‌

👁️Notion macro overview - future plans 👁️ I often talk about how much sweat and effort has gone into developing the content inside the Notion workspace, so I think it’s time to give a quick overview of the type of product I’m building, and plan to keep building over the next few years. The level I aim to deliver is AAA+. As you can see from the video, there are 8 main sections: - Psychology - Technical Analysis - Fundamentals - Personal Growth - Insights - Tools - FAQ The section with the most weight and the one I’ve curated most carefully is definitely the one on Technical Analysis. It goes in-depth even for complete beginners who want to give a serious boost to their understanding of this field. Those who have read it or are currently going through it have seen a substantial improvement in their knowledge, confirmed by tangible results. The addition of a crypto tracker and a trading journal provides even more support, especially for those who are serious about their journey. But even though the work done so far is massive (over 800 pages in PDF format), this is just the beginning. Over time (this is a 3 to 5+ year project), I plan to keep improving the current guides with even more advanced techniques, write new guides based on user requests, and build structured learning paths with targeted exercises tailored to the user’s level of experience plus video integrations. That’s just the technical side, though. I also have other sections in mind focused on psychology and personal growth, aimed at the holistic development of the individual: financially, emotionally, in business, and physically. The ultimate goal is to create a product of incredible educational value, a true point of reference for anyone looking to improve their life in any aspect. And if you know how I work and how I write, you already know what kind of bomb this is going to be. "It's a book, but better"
