Greenfield, Iowa was devastated by what will no doubt be a major tornado when rated. Here is that tornado when it first formed southwest of Villisca, Iowa. After narrowly escaping the fast moving , large, powerful twister, I became stuck in the mud as it passed just to my north, toppling trees and damaging a home. Brandon Copic got hit by a tree that came down on us during the intense RFD surge from the tornado forming nearby on 04/23/26. 🌪️🚨 I was running outside trying to grab my $180 sunglasses after they flew off, but I had to forget about them fast because that tree was about to come flying right into me. In that moment, safety mattered way more than anything else. Two wildlife officers discovered a large Moose trapped in a net. It was panicked, struggling violently, and fell to the ground, crying out in fear and pain. The officers carefully approached it (as the large elk could have been dangerous) and quickly cut through the net to free it. After being released, instead of attacking, the Moose got back on its feet and immediately ran into the forest—perhaps understanding that they had saved its life. 🫎🌲
