Cursor now has project level MCP settings! This allows you to connect each of your local project to different Supabase instance through the mcp.json file! Just make sure not to check the file into Git as it contains the connection string to your database!

It’d be cool if someone would make a specialized stack for each Postgres use case, with nice docs, perf comparisons, tutorials, etc - so you don’t have to leave Postgres :)

What's MCP ? Can you explain in a nutshell

They are tools that allow AI models to be connected to other tools so that they can interact with them. In this example, I'm using the Postgres MCP to allow Cursor to talk to my database.

Hey @cursor_ai , can you update "tab" rules in gitignore to include the new mcp.json?

wait the whole point is to check it into git! we recommend having a small wrapper script that loads your secrets however your project manages them and then runs the actual mcp server
