I love seeing the Cyber cabs test but this almost seems like just racking up autonomous miles and I'm not sure if that really counts compared to the experience on the open road.

Surreal, and I've got questions about the accuracy of the interval, and how does a cab keep the proper interval at speed? Normal freeway lane is 12' wide that oval looks more like 10' wide or less?

The changing test setup may be more interesting than the mileage — speed-limit signs, stop signs, traffic lights, different lane configurations, and now 20+ Cybercabs running together. This looks much more like structured validation than simply accumulating autonomous miles.

Cybercabs doing heavy testing on the Giga Texas track today, with ~30 Cybercabs doing constant stop-and-go testing along with more lane changes around the large oval. Crews were working on the last segment of the “cobblestone” portion of the inner track for further tests. I also saw a “Cybercab” logo’d variant next to the iconic “Fork in the Road” display on the S end of the factory, while more employee autonomous Cybercab rides were happening all over the site today. In a separate post, I’ll share some images of many newly produced Cybercabs at the E Factory exit and in the outbound lot today! 1 week until the big Cybercab Launch Event!

The Giga Texas Test Track and offices were quiet at the time of my flight today, but we do see many Cybercabs getting ready for more testing while the track itself is getting a pretty rough “Cobblestone” section being added for more NVH testing along with active noise cancelling calibration. We also see more Cybercabs with the “Cybercab” logos lined up in front of the main factory along with many more in the outbound lot today.

About a dozen were on or driving near the track, conducting lane selection, rumble strip and other tests. We heard yesterday from Wes Maldonado that Cybercabs do have audio capabilities to cancel out NVH so this might be part of the testing we are seeing, along with autonomous driving capabilities. Check out this new video clip of some of the action on this sunny day at the track!

About 40-50 Cybercabs all over the site today, including some testing out the factory exit to the W EOL facility routes, many of the prototypes at the Crash Testing facility today (possibly for recycling) and more! At the Giga Texas Test Track, we see some of it is being used now, with railed lanes, a long line of rumble strips, paint marks & cones … these are in the area where I showed a ground video yesterday of Cybercabs testing with acceleration runs. I’ve included a portion of that video in this one showing the location on the track. Speaking of Cybercab testing, we see 7 set up along with a trailer, that looks like the LIDAR testing rigs that usually we see on the roofs of vehicles driving around streets for camera validation testing & more in what seems to be a temporary dedicated testing facility until a more permanent one is completed. Still more asphalt work to complete the inner portions fo the track, but it is definitely partially operational now and being used! Very nice to see!

In total about 12 Cybercabs were at the crash testing facility this morning with several showing some signs of completed on in progress tests. There were also 8 Cybercabs at the outbound lot today, & these appear to be more of the engineering testing versions with blue tape where exterior mirrors could be attached while they are being used for tests around the country.

Today “only” 32 Cybercabs were on the W side outbound lot, but in 3 different groups, one of which was lined up on the W side of the EOL facility & I captured some of these driving into the facility. I also saw Cybercabs exiting off the main highway & onto the Giga Texas property & driving around the site along with about a dozen at the Crash Testing facility today. I did not see Cybercabs exiting the factory portal today, but it is a Friday which is a normal non-production day, so that was not surprising.

Another view of Cybercabs loading up into two covered transports at the Giga Texas outbound lot today. I had to wait out fog before flying and it was worth the wait! The Cybercabs being loaded for transport appear to have settering wheels so these are for testing only. This video shows how the loading operation works and a few other details too. Over 30 Cybercabs were noticed today while I flew, 13 of which were at Crash Testing. We are just over 3 weeks from the official start of production, so things are noticeably active here at the factory getting ready! Video at 2X speed

If you look closely, both the large group spacing and the individual car spacing & reaction times in each group appears to be unusually uniform, suggesting everything we see may be fully autonomous operations.
