Dale Earnhardt Jr. spoke extensively on Lee Pulliam in his post-race press conference. "He took this opportunity extremely personal and took it to heart. He wanted to come in here and be ready and as good as he possibly could be. "... I feel like the things that he's... done in his career afforded him the opportunity to feel what it's like at this level and kind of at least get that experience so he can know what that's like and how he stacks up. And I think he stacks up really well." Dale believes Pulliam would do well in any other O'Reilly/Truck opportunities he gets. Says JR Motorsports would love to run him more, but that's difficult to do. Also talked about getting Lee not to beat himself up over the stackup crash on the restart as well as the response from the industry. Carson Hocevar and Butterbean Queen were among those texting Dale about Pulliam along with Denny Hamlin.show more

Dale Earnhardt Jr. said he asked Cleetus McFarland "if he got dizzy spinning in circles" after the O'Reilly race, but spoke highly of Cleetus and how he's a great guy who is in NASCAR for the right reasons. "I feel like I've gotten to talk to him when the cameras are off, and he is such a great guy. And he truly just wants to come in here - he doesn't want to be the story for all the wrong reasons. He wants to come in, run his race, learn, get out of here without ruffling any feathers. He knows he's got a long way to go before he can really find the speed to perform. "... He's fun to have around. I've seen him and listened to him and watched him speak when the cameras aren't on, and he's in it for the right reasons. And he just wants to come in and be embraced and have a good time and enjoy himself. I appreciate that about him." Dale also mentioned he believes Cleetus is with the right people at RCR to help him develop as a race car driver.

It's been two weeks now since Lee Pulliam got his chance to race in NASCAR and all that came with it. Says he made a lot of memories he'll have forever, "and hopefully we get to make some more eventually" Pulliam now puts his car owner hat back on overseeing Carson Brown's effort. Spoke further with him about the CARS Tour coming to Nashville Fairgrounds, the platform this week could prove to be, and Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s overall role in elevating the profile of short track racing.

Carson Hocevar said today that he originally wanted to run a throwback to the Bud 8, thinking it was perfect for Chili's branding, but they sold him on Dale Earnhardt's 1981 Wrangler car since it fit their cowboy theme. Hocevar remembers it from when Dale Jr drove it at Daytona in 2010, so he was able to rationalize that he's running somewhat of a Jr. scheme. Hocevar also pushed back on the comparisons people have made between him and Dale Earnhardt and what they've turned into. "It started by kind of not apologizing after running into people and being really, really aggressive to turning into kind of 'Oh, I'm as good as him.' I don't know where that came from."

lando spoke about apologising to franco and owning up to his words. proper class act 👏🏼 "it was me not saying the right things and saying some things that aren't a true reflection of me or what i would really mean deep down. i don't normally think i get caught up in the heat of the moment, but this was certainly one of the cases where i think i did. and for me, the most important thing was to speak to franco about it. he's the only guy in the state that i want to direct something to and care about in this situation. and that's what i did. so i spoke to him already saturday night as soon as i could, and of course i put the post out later in the week to apologise, to let everyone know that i did it, because there was also the rest of the world that i feel like i owe the apology to. so, it's good. as drivers we all get along. franco is a good friend of mine. i get on with franco very well. he always means well. he's a very good guy. so of course, at the same time, i feel like i owe that apology more than everyone else"

During his post-race press conference, Denny Hamlin talked a little more about honoring Ned Jarrett - who drove the same No. 11 that Hamlin does now - in his interview on the frontstretch. "If you listen to MJ, he'll say that 'Cale's the original 11', right? But if you know the sport and you know the history, you know that Ned was the one that came onto the scene - and the guy showed up, he won. Didn't he win a race by like four, five laps or something?" "14 laps." "14 laps. Like, come on." Denny mentioned the relationship he's built over the years with Dale Jarrett and said he sent Dale a message following Ned's passing a few days ago. Mentioned the respect he has for the Jarrett family as well as growing up knowing Ned as a broadcaster. "I just will never forget that voice. Him and BP and all them, that's how my introduction into the past started. Just, again, very much like the Busch family, you just try to do your best to pay your respects to him in a difficult time for the family." h/t Reid Spencer

Sinner on if there’s anything Djokovic doesn’t do as well as he used to, ‘I’m lucky to have someone like him in front of my eyes & I can hopefully learn something… I think the way he is playing and moving, if you are not professional, you don’t play at this level’ “Novak will be 39 in May. Do you think there are things he doesn’t do as well now as he used to?” Jannik: “The level he is still playing, he is I think the most professional athlete we have here in the locker room. Me as a 24 year old, I am lucky to have someone like him in front of my eyes and I can hopefully learn something. I feel like every day and every time he plays I can learn something about him, about Carlos, about all the other great, great players. I think the way he is playing and moving, if you are not professional, you don’t play at this level. He is an inspiration for all of us, especially young players.” (via Australian Open Press)

Coppola had to fight to cast Marlon Brando as Vito Corleone in The Godfather. At the time, the studio saw Brando as “box office poison.” What finally sold them was his legendary screen test, where he transformed into the Don right in front of their eyes. Coppola explains: "I remember in one meeting, I was told by the then president of Paramount - "As president of Paramount Pictures, I am telling you that Marlon Brando will not appear in this motion picture." So I continued talking and arguing, and finally, they agreed to let me discuss the idea of Marlon Brando being in the movie if I honored three stipulations. A - he would do a screen test. B - he would do the film for free. (he would get a back-end deal) And C - he would put up a bond so that if any of his shenanigans or any trouble came from him being on the set, that it would guarantee the losses. So I said, - "Okay, I accept” - What could I do? I accepted these three things from Marlon. So I then called up Marlon Brando and suggested, "Maybe it’d be nice if I did like a little makeup test or something? I could come over your house." - he said to me, "All right."… We got to his house very early, and we set up our little lights. And I had brought a bunch of provolone cheese and a little Italian cigars and little props just to kind of put around - sure enough, he wakes up, and he comes out of his bedroom; and he's this great-looking, I don't know, he must have been 47, and in a Japanese robe. He looked very impressive, and I looked at him with this ponytail and I'm like, "God, how's he ever going to play a mafia chieftain?"… And he walked on. He put on a jacket, and he started mumbling - I remember, he went through great effort to bend the tip of his collar - he said, "So, like, there's a time guys always have the collar bent like that." And he picked up a cigar, and he started to gesture with it and use it as a prop, and he nibbled on a little bit of provolone cheese - and he rolled up the ponytail, and he kind of pinned it up, and he took some shoe polish, and he darkened it, and while he's doing this, we're photographing… He took some tissue paper, and he said, "He should have the face of a bulldog."...He stuffed the tissue paper in his jaw, and then he said, "Well, if he's shot in the throat, he ought to have to talk like that a little bit." It really was a transformation of this nice looking young man with a blonde ponytail, into this kind of mafia guy… I took it to New York, and I went to Mr. Bluthorn's office (head of Paramount Pictures), and I said, "Oh, Charlie, Charlie, I want to show you something." - I flick the video, and sure enough, there's Marlon Brando coming out in a robe with a blonde ponytail, and he looks, and he says, "Never! Marlon Brando, never! Never!" And as he's doing that, he's watching Brando turn himself into this guy, and Charlie just looks astounded, and he says, "That's incredible! That's incredible!" And once he was sold on the idea that Marlon could do it on his authority, they allowed us to do it."

🗣️ Mikel Arteta on Dowman’s work off the ball “I'm glad you are talking about that, because that's a big part of the game as well, and he really wants to do it. “The more he plays, the more he trains with us, and the more ready he is physically to sustain that level, he will do it. “That will help him in his attacking phase for sure, because he will force errors and mistakes from the opponent, and he will then be in a really open situation to exploit his qualities. “He knows that. Today is a big example for him as well, and I'm sure that's going to trigger even more will for him to do it.”

Asked Carson Hocevar about why he put out this PSA. He said there was a group of kids at his merch hauler and he wanted to sign autographs for all of them, but a few people leaned over and got in front of them. Says it's become a trend, too. "I just wanted to at least say something of like 'hey, cool it a little bit when they're kids.' Because it'd be really easy for two adults to step in front of a kid and I don't even see them. "And then that kid - 100%, because I was that kid - would think that I ignored them because how did you not see me." Hocevar actually related it to when he was a kid trying to get Dale Earnhardt Jr. 's autograph at the Daytona 500 only for other adults to hound Dale as he was leaving the intro truck.

Arteta on Rob Edwards and Wolves: “Well, because most of the game that's what they're doing against opponents, and he came in a really difficult moment for the club and I know how he feels about the club and the way he works. “It's going to be very tough. You'll be doing the things that we do really well. We have a big chance to win the game and we need to play as well with that purpose and confidence.”

Asked Dale Earnhardt Jr. about big picture stuff in regards to the state of Nashville Fairgrounds and what it's up against Dale says he believes there can be a middle ground where the Fairgrounds Speedway can still exist and everyone involved in the ongoing politics of the Fairgrounds can be happy. He'd be supportive if Marcus Smith/SMI came in and got to improve the facilities, but spoke extensively about the appeal of grassroots racing in Nashville and doesn't believe the Fairgrounds' future is "NASCAR or bust" He also stumped for putting up a sound barrier, which he believes would be a great help to the neighborhood surrounding the racetrack

Chandler Smith had much to say about the impact Kyle Busch had on him, as well as the many Kyle Busch Motorsports alumni in the Truck Series (and beyond), after paying tribute to his former boss with his signature bow. "He meant a lot to me in a sense of he took the time out of his day when I had questions. Not to rush me, he would sit me down and explain what I was asking and giving me the answer, and being thorough about it. "... He cared really deeply about his drivers. And the ones he believed in, you could definitely tell, because those were the ones that he wanted to really take time with." Chandler says Kyle was an amazing boss and great mentor - pointing out the KBM alumni have reached the Cup Series - and "one of the sweetest individuals that you would ever meet" off the racetrack. "We'll miss him deeply. The garage still isn't the same and it never will be."

WATCH: Former U.S. Rep. Jason Chaffetz, who was at the Kirk event, says he wants America to know that the last thing Charlie talked about was love and Jesus Christ. Chaffetz was visibly broken...but said this was too important not to share. “I want his wife and the country to know that the last question he took, the last thing he talked about to people in Utah—thousands of people that wanted to come hear him—is that his message was one of the love, of Jesus Christ, of his belief in prayer.” “And he talked about that from his heart.” “And you can feel it.”

Arteta says he ‘might use’ Saka centrally in the future: “That's something that's a possibility and I wanted to try it and we might use it in the future. There are still so many games, competitions and different scenarios to play in the season and that's a possibility that we have.” What Arteta likes about playing Saka in the middle: “It's more central. It's closer to the goal. It's a bit more difficult for the opponent to get his reference constantly. “He can interchange positions with the wide player as well and he's so good at picking those spaces and when he's there, he can really hurt you with the ball.”

Post-race comments from Dale Earnhardt Jr. after running second in Cars Tour PLM at Florence (stopped halfway through to say what's up to Kevin Harvick) Dale said it would've been nice to win, but he can't complain with being competitive and running second. "This is definitely a great night at the racetrack ... Great to do it with (Tony Eury Jr.) and maybe we'll do another one. ... I think with how this weekend went, they'd love to do it again. I would too." Dale also discussed some big picture questions concerning the CARS Tour, such as Red Bull's involvement this weekend, looking ahead to when he races next month at Newport, and stuff about Pro Late Models. (I came in about two or so minutes late so if it seems like the beginning of this video is cut off, that's why.)
