Oh no! @abati1990. I must say I was taken aback hearing such a dismissive view of @mehdirhasan from a journalist of your standing. This is not the high-level journalism we once associated you with. I can only imagine what @ruffydfire was thinking as he listened to your response.

This is the same Abati when he ambushed Peter Obi and interrogated him, similar to what he claims Mehdi did to Bwala. This is why nobody listens to Abati anymore, he has lost every credibility, I can’t stand the sight of him and his awkward dry attempts at jokes.

if Dr. abatti observed mehdi's quote of bwala. There were mostly security related quotes... Mentions like - tinubu created a militia - his life was threatened - Bullion van for d sake of vote buying These are security related contexts, and there's no racist or ambush anywhere.

Reuben Abbati is one of the most usel€as and biased journalists I’ve ever seen in my life. You can see that when it comes to Tinubu he is always tight lipped. In my opinion I don’t think he should be on this Arise show at all, typical of any Yoruba man I should say. Because they are neither here nor there when it comes to taking a stand and I say this with empirical evidence that some Yorubas are bad image for the once beautiful, great and intelligent ethnic group. The crop of men and women coming out from that region now are a complete disgrace to themselves and the ethnicity they represent, making excuses for Daniel is the height of his hypocrisy I must say.

In a sane country, this embarrassing interview would be enough to cost someone their job. A responsible government wouldn’t want to be associated with such blatant lying and lack of integrity. But I’m sure he’ll probably get a pay rise and promotion at some point. That tells you everything you need to know about this administration.

Daniel Bwala is trending because he fumbled during an interview on Aljazeera, drawing laughter from the audience. On H2H with Megdi Hassan, Pastor Bwala said Nigeria has arrested the leaders of Boko Haram and Lakurawa. And has never ‘mistakenly’ bombed civilians, and Nigeria is safer since 2023. When they presented empirical fact, Bwala first admitted that the number of casualties increased in 2024, and even more in 2025. But somehow, he still insisted Nigeria is safer than before. When Hassan asked how? He said.. because of “context”. Bwala started by calling the Christian genocide a hoax. Almost on same breath he admitted that it wasn’t a hoax, leaving Hassan and the crowd perplexed. Bwala denied all of his old statements, tweets and interviews where he spoke against Tinubu. As he denied, Hassan read them back word for word. Bwala said, they are not true. They are his opinion. And he was in opposition, which involves lying. Hassan said, you don’t lie about a militia, Bwala said, that’s his opinion. Hassan read him accounts of people who suffered Airforce bombing attacks, people who were kidnapped, Bwala said the data were not trustworthy because they are from western media. So, Hassan read him a local report and admission from the Nigerian Airforce, Bwala said it’s not true. As Bwala denied facts, Hassan presented evidence. Each time, Bwala said “I am not aware of that.” Prompting Hassan to say. “A week ago you put out a video of you and your team researching and preparing for this show. Yet each time I ask you something you say you are not aware of that.. then what were you researching in that video?..” — This sent laughter across the audience. At a point Bwala compared terrorism attack to the 9/11 attack and said America also currently suffers terrorist attacks like Nigeria.. when they asked him where.. he stuttered. Mehdi Hasan & Bassem Youssef TEAR Into Bill Maher Over His Obsession With Israel Mehdi Hasan: Before we finish, I've got to throw one last name in here: Bill Maher. Bill Maher recently said, "Israel's never started a war, it's always attacked first," and called claims of colonization and genocide antisemitism. He said, if he has to be on one side of MAGA Trump or Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, and Nick Fuentes he'll be with Trump. Bassem Youssef: He's adopting your same side. Mehdi Hasan: The thing that pisses me off is Bill Maher saying Joe Kent said, "The Jews made us do it." He didn't say that. He referred to Israel. It's actually antisemitic to conflate Jews with Israel, which is what Bill Maher's doing. It's always about Israel, and then they say it's about antisemitism. Bassem Youssef: What is really pissing me off is, why are we still speaking about Bill Maher in any other capacity other than that he is a 100% pro-Israel asset? Mehdi Hasan: I think you're actually doing him a favour with that argument. I don't think he needs to be paid. He's an ideologue. He's believed this stuff all his life. I think he's a hardcore Zionist in his heart. Bassem Youssef: Bill Maher has a famous documentary called Religulous. He went and made fun of all religions. He went to the Muslims and made fun of them. Then he went to the Christians and made fun of them. And when he went to the Jews, who did he make fun of? Neturei Karta the anti-Israeli Jewish group. Mehdi Hasan: For him, Israel is everything. He's a noted atheist, but he's fine with the Jewish state run by theocrats. Bassem Youssef: He's an atheist who's like, "Well, it was given to them by God!" What is wrong with you? Mehdi Hasan: My biggest objection to Bill Maher is not his Zionism, it's not his Islamophobia, it's not his racism, it's not his misogyny. It's the fact he's not funny. Bassem Youssef: He's not funny at all. Mehdi Hasan: It's like when Henry Kissinger got the Nobel Peace Prize. Bassem Youssef: That's the perfect analogy.

PRESS STATEMENT In the last 24 hours, social media has exploded over my interview with Mehdi Hassan, albeit with varied opinions. Let me set the record straight. When I signed on to the privileged job granted to me by Mr. President, I was well aware of its implications. Selling ice cream, looking fine, and seeking the praises of men were never part of it. Some of the fiercest critics of my interview can not even stand local TV anchors. But the task of promoting and defending the President and his administration is what I do with ease and joy. I am prepared to appear before any interviewer, anywhere in the world, any day and at any time, to defend this government and its policies. I have never, and will never, subscribe to ducking or dodging interviews on matters that concern promoting and defending the administration I was appointed to serve. It is the least of what is required of me. Head to Head contacted me requesting an interview, stating that they wanted to challenge our government on security, the economy, and corruption. Nowhere in our almost six months of communication did they mention that they were going to challenge my past. If that had been their plan, ethically and professionally, they were supposed to inform me so I could prepare my response. But that’s okay, ethically, that is on them, not on me. I refused to swallow the pill of Mehdi’s “opposition research-style journalism,” and even today, if you carefully compare what he read as quotes from organisations and groups, you will see that many were inaccurate and some were outright fake news. But I will leave that for another day. As for what I said about President Tinubu in the past, I am glad those were things I said when I was in the opposition saddle with such zeal. It is all politics. Half of Donald Trump’s cabinet is made up of people who once spoke against him, and quite a number of people in our own cabinet also spoke against President Tinubu in the past. Those things do not bother him if you care to know. The majority of the naysayers are members of the opposition and their sympathisers. It does not bother me one bit. Their temporary excitement over the interview has not lasted and will not last, because it does not take away their obvious problem of lack of vision, mission in conducting and managing a political party; yet they seek to manage Nigeria. Clearly they have no path to victory and no alternative policies or program for the Nigerian people. And if they say they do, they can as well go to head to head and be interrogated on that; as the saying in Hausa goes “Ga fili Ga doki” I conclude by thanking the many Nigerians and non-Nigerians who sent in their commendations over my brave defence of our government in an interview where the anchor would hardly let you answer a question unless it suited his narrative. I still have admiration and respect for Mehdi Hassan as arguably the best debater on the planet. I look forward to part two of the Head to Head interview, and I am glad that by then questions about my past will no longer be news so that we can focus on our administration’s policies, programs and what we have achieved so far. Stay tuned. – D.H Bwala Special Adviser to President on Media and Policy Communication (State House) Saturday March 7, 2026

Mehdi Hasan on Donald Trump's character #BBCQT "Republicans today say character doesn't matter.. Because they've checked out their candidate.. They know they can't say it matters when their candidate is Donald J Trump" "Perhaps the most amoral man to reach the presidency in modern American history" "We've all seen him in action.. A thin skinned narcissist.. Self obsessed with petty vendettas.. Personal grievances.. A wannabe autocrat" "He's a hero to white evangelicals bizarrely because he's a former casino owner who cheated on his first wife with his second wife.. Cheated on his third wife with a porn star" "Found liable of sexual abuse by a jury of his peers" "Lies i every breath.. More than 30,000 according to a count by the Washington Post.. Spent years saying outrageously racist and misogynist things about women, and people of colour" "Hosted a holocaust denier at his home for thanksgiving" "He doesn't have the character to be president.. The mental fitness" "His own defence secretary says he's not fit for office.. In fact the vast majority of people who served in his cabinet say they're not voting for him" Fiona Brcue, "What about the character of Kamala Harris.. There's two people were talking about" Mehdi Hasan, "The problem with you saying there's two people, one of them is Donald Trump, so it really doesn't matter who is on the other side when it comes to character" "We could pick someone randomly walking down the street in Philly and they would have a better character than Donald J Trump" Fair to say the Fresh Prince would agree with Mehdi Hasan

Mehdi Hasan Corners Piers Morgan Over Israel and Gaza: “Why Is Netanyahu Not a Terrorist?” Mehdi Hasan: You condemn Benjamin Netanyahu's terrorism against the children of Gaza? Piers Morgan: I wouldn't categorise Israel's actions in Gaza as terrorism, although I do think some acts such as the violent expansion of settlements in the West Bank could be described as acts of terror. My hesitation is that after October 7th, I believe Israel had both a right and a moral duty to defend its people. Hamas knew Israel would respond, and they were operating among civilians. Mehdi Hasan: By killing Palestinian kids? Piers Morgan: I come from a military family. My brother and brother-in-law served in Iraq and Afghanistan, where civilians, including children, were killed. But Gaza is different. Half the population is under 18, and a horrifying number of children have been killed. So yes, the level of civilian death has become completely unacceptable and it has to stop. Mehdi Hasan: What is the acceptable level of death? Piers Morgan: I don't know. That's why I've always asked: what is proportionate? After 9/11, I opposed the invasion of Iraq because I believed it was illegal. Mehdi Hasan: But you haven't waged that same campaign against Israel. Piers Morgan: Because Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. Mehdi Hasan: So it's about the goal, not the conduct of the war. I'm asking about the conduct. There was a video verified by The Washington Post showing a 13-year-old boy being attacked by a drone while apparently posing no threat. As people came to help him, there was another strike. How is that not an act of terror? Piers Morgan: I haven't seen that specific video. I want these incidents properly investigated, and if war crimes have been committed, those responsible should be held accountable. Mehdi Hasan: You think Yahya Sinwar was a terrorist, right? Piers Morgan: Yes. Mehdi Hasan: The ICC prosecutor sought an arrest warrant for Sinwar—and also sought one for Benjamin Netanyahu, alleging offences including starvation, murder, wilful killing and extermination. So why isn't Netanyahu a terrorist? Piers Morgan: He may ultimately be convicted of war crimes that suggest that. Mehdi Hasan: But Sinwar wasn't convicted either. I'm asking you to be consistent. The same ICC prosecutor sought warrants for both. Piers Morgan: Hamas openly showed the world what they did on October 7th. Sinwar directed that attack. Mehdi Hasan: So has Israel. Israeli soldiers have even posted videos of their actions during the war. Piers Morgan: You're not going to get me to say Israel has been committing terrorism, because I believe they're defending their people. Mehdi Hasan: Why not? That's what I'm wondering. It seems like a stubborn refusal. Piers Morgan: Because any country that suffered an October 7th would respond as Israel has. Mehdi Hasan: No, they wouldn't have killed children at this level. Piers Morgan: If you had literally a country on your border Mehdi Hasan: It's not a country on your border. It's occupied territory. Piers Morgan: I've actually said before that I believe it is occupied territory. Mehdi Hasan: Exactly. So it's not a country on your border. Piers Morgan: Fine. Let's call it Gaza.

Eylon Levy Comes For Mehdi Hasan — Then Mehdi Fires Back With Brutal Questions About Gaza Eylon Levy: Tonight's debate is about whether Israel's actions in the war in Gaza are justified. We are fighting a Jihadist army that has as much respect for humanity and law as Mehdi Hasan has for the truth. Mehdi may say, "I condemn Hamas's acts on October 7th," but he won't condemn its strategy because he is part of that strategy. Hamas is counting on its defense attorney to shield it from the consequences of the war it started. Moderator: Eylon, I'm sorry, your time is up. You've already crossed one of the lines of the culture we try to establish here by calling your opponent a liar. Eylon Levy: I don't mind. It's fine. Moderator: Mehdi Hasan, answer the question: Are Israel's actions in the Gaza war justified? Mehdi Hasan: No. Obviously not. October 7th was a crime, a war crime. Taking hostages is a war crime, and those hostages should be released. But to destroy an entire place and an entire people in response is never justified. How are we still debating this more than 40,000 deaths later? Was Israel justified in dropping 500-, 1,000-, and 2,000-pound bombs on schools, hospitals, universities, mosques, churches, refugee camps and apartment buildings? Was Israel justified in bombing areas it had designated as safe zones? Was Israel justified in killing thousands of children in Gaza? Six-year-old Hind Rajab and her 15-year-old sister Layan were killed in their car, and two paramedics who went to rescue them were also killed. Was that justified too, Elon?
