Won 2 Oscars. Made over 1 billion dollars. Skyfall isn’t just a bond film, it’s history and Daniel Craig was a one of a kind James Bond

When Daniel Craig was cast as James Bond in 2005, backlash was instant. Critics mocked his 5'10" height, blonde hair and looks, and protest sites like “Craig-Not-Bond-dotcom.” Fans even mocked him as “James Bland.” After Casino Royale released, the criticism quickly collapsed.

Daniel Craig originally wanted SKYFALL (2012) to be his last James Bond movie. He even said: “I really think this one is better even than Casino Royale” In Skyfall, Bond is burned out and trying to walk away yet still desperate to prove he’s not finished

In Casino Royale the iconic moment of Daniel Craig emerging from the sea was an accident. Originally, James Bond was meant to stay in water but, according to Craig, the shot occurred because he swam into an awkwardly sited sand bank and history was made.

Daniel Craig was mocked as “James Bland” before Casino Royale and Skyfall. Fans attacked his 5’10” height, blonde hair and looks, with protest sites like “Craig-Not-Bond-dotcom” appearing. Then the movies dropped and the jokes stopped.

The director of Casino Royale admitted he had doubts about Daniel Craig being “sexy” enough for James Bond. “People like Sean Connery, Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan… All traditional handsome, all sexy, all attractive to women. Daniel was tougher and rugged.”

Bond works best when the actor isn’t already bigger than the character. Jack Lowden fits that mold perfectly. A relatively unknown Bond is usually a good sign. People doubted Daniel Craig too.

Whether it happens or not, Jack Lowden will always be my pick for the next James Bond. He already has the spy credentials, the range, the charisma, and that Daniel Craig-era intensity. After the latest rumors that he’s being strongly considered, I need this to happen.
