Daniel Kaluuya is arguably the best actor of his (my) generation. Kaluuya is as good as any actor in the world south of 40. I’ve always felt that COVID overshadowed his Oscar win for Best Supporting Actor for Judas & The Black Messiah. This is an all-time great performance.

Born on the Fourth of July nearly won Tom Cruise an Oscar for Best Actor back in 1990, but Cruise ran into the force of nature that is Daniel Day-Lewis, who won for My Left Foot. This is a painful story about the sacrifices veterans make & it’s some of Cruise’s best acting. I think the Cruise-Oliver Stone pairing is interesting in hindsight. 26 years later, Cruise might finally get that Oscar for Digger.

Christian Bale won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his work in The Fighter & while I don’t really love this film, I love this performance. In fact, the entire film is worth watching because of multiple performances from a loaded cast. But Bale is truly at his best here.

I’ve admired Alfred Molina for a longtime. I think he’s one of those actors who falls in the “actor’s actor” bucket because he’s truly doing this for the love of the game. His work in Spider-Man 2 was exceptional & a reason the film is so memorable. He elevates every movie.

Widows is a damn good film that was totally overlooked by The Academy. I’ve been thinking about this film more lately because it’s one of Robert Duvall’s final films. I love this entire cast. Every actor in this film is excellent. And it’s a great Chicago movie. It deserved more.

The problem with this witness and his response on the cause of autism and the relationship to vaccines is that he is relitigating settled science so we can’t go forward and find out what the cause is.
