Daniel Day-Lewis is ending his retirement this year. Our prayers have been answered. Finally. He’s returning with a film titled Anemone this October directed by his son, Ronan. I hope this sparks a full-fledged return for perhaps the greatest living actor. DDL was born to act.

Daniel Day-Lewis is impossibly good in the 1993 film In the Name of the Father, which earned DDL an Oscar nomination for Best Actor. This performance doesn’t get brought up enough because it didn’t bring DDL Oscar glory. But does that matter? His performance is so raw & so vulnerable. I don’t know how acting can get better than this. I pray DDL returns to Cinema for good.

Daniel Day-Lewis has won the #Oscar for Best Actor on three occasions & each time, he’s demonstrated a level of class that I think is hard to replicate. His speech here after winning his latest award for Lincoln is tremendous. I still think DDL has another Academy Award in him.

Daniel Day-Lewis is absolutely exceptional in #Anemone. I understand this is a polarizing film that not everyone will embrace but I love this movie & I love DDL’s performance. He’s electric & delivers some incredibly memorable monologues. It’s so good to see him back on screen.

This film avoids the typical clichés of inspirational biopics by showing us an uncompromising, raw - and sometimes humorous - portrait of artist/writer Christy Brown. I don’t know if anyone is capable of pulling this off other than DDL. A tremendous film.
