Danielle Hunter on improvements for Texans offense & CJ Stroud: “Few days I’ve been here I noticed a lot from oline & QB play. How they work together in sync. Definitely better across the oline. CJ, just having his pocket awareness. He’s able to step up, making plays. I... show more

Houston Texans on Trevor Lawrence: Will Anderson jr.: “He’s leading that team the right way. Great quarterback, big arm, hard to bring down man, I’ll tell you that for sure because he’s huge, he’s an athlete.” Danielle Hunter: “He’s been making plays also with his legs.” CJ Stroud: “I think he’s playing a a very high level. Guys on the outside are trusting him & up front blocking hard for him.”

.Ran Carthon on CJ Stroud: “I don’t feel like it’s a make it or break it year for CJ Stroud. I think he has been good enough. He’s had them in the playoffs. The consistent thing for all these organizations that are winning is you have consistency at the QB position & the HC position. If you look around most teams in the NFL, they would prefer having a CJ Stroud on their team.”

.Mina Kimes on NFL on ESPN on the Texans & CJ Stroud: “I think Houston can do a better job of supporting him this season if they can run the football better. CJ Stroud’s superpower as a QB is throwing in-breakers. Digs, crossers, slants. Last year he was 1st league wide in success rate on in-breakers, tied for 1st with Jared Goff on EPA/play. Some of that has to do with Nico Collins on the receiving end— that’s also his superpower, catching those types of passes. It’s a phenomenal skillset & one that the Texans haven’t been able to lean into, get the most out of because of the lack of an efficient, explosive running game. If they’re able to draw linebackers up there’d be voids over the middle of the field, draw safeties up, they’d face single high coverage. The Texans run game needs to be better to get the most out of CJ Stroud.”

Adam Schefter on the Texans & CJ Stroud: “First of all the big question this summer will be if and when they can get a contract extension done for CJ Stroud. When you hear extension, yeah I think they want to keep him there in Houston and it won’t surprise me if they tie him up.”

.Adam Schefter on NFL on ESPN on CJ Stroud & the Texans on contract talks: “The Houston Texans have had discussion with CJ Stroud about a new deal. My understanding is they’re not close at this particular time. Talks will continue. We’ll see if they are able to get anything done by the time the season begins or shortly thereafter. After this season, there are going to be a group of QBs in line for extensions. You’re going to see some enormous prices paid for QBs. Prices for QBs is always going up. If the Texans & Stroud can’t get a deal done in the coming weeks & CJ Stroud lights it up, the price is going way up. If he doesn’t light it up, they may have to find another qb.”

Manti Te’o says CJ Stroud is the most intriguing AFC QB in search of his first Super Bowl: “The narrative has always been ‘if he could just be average with that defense, they would win a Super Bowl.’ I don’t think people remember how this guy played his rookie year. If CJ Stroud can be a glimpse of that, put the crown on him, give him the Lombardi. You know what they’re getting on the defensive side of the ball, you know what they’re getting in David Montgomery. Everything is up here for Stroud, it’s all mental. If he can get that swagger back, the Houston Texans will be a nightmare for a lot of people.”

.Mina Kimes on CJ Stroud: “CJ Stroud did not have a good postseason but I think it’s also worth stressing that he was a very different player since he’s come into the NFL. Over the course of his regular season career he has an interception rate of just 1.7% which is 11th among QBs in that time. You can argue that he’s proven that’s not who he is on the whole. Houston can do a better job of supporting him, the offensive line & the run game.”

DeMeco Ryans on CJ Stroud: “Our support is never changed for CJ. I support him, I love him, I told him that after the game. He’s already been in working out. Great young man, talented, part of the reason why we’ve had the success we’ve had over the past 3 years. He’s the guy. I’m pleased with what he’s done. I know what he’s capable of. Great leader, he’s a really great quarterback as well.”

Reed Blakenship on being a Texan: “I’ve only been here a few days. From what I’ve seen & noticed, character is like a huge deal in this organization. It feels like a family ordeal. The first person to reach out was CJ. It was really cool to see his name pop up. I feel like everybody’s just.. chill. I like it.” 🎥 Houston Texans YT

.Evan Washburn on CJ Stroud: “I’ve kinda had it with the CJ Stroud discussion. I understand why there’s some question surrounding this young man, but he had a historic rookie season, & then the last two have not been up to that standard but they’ve been strong seasons. Yes, the playoffs were a nightmare, I get why there’s a little bit of trepidation, but it feels like he gets put in a category where we’re not sure if he can be a starter. I just won’t ever understand that. Call up Atlanta right now, would they like to have CJ Stroud as their QB? How about in Carolina, Minnesota? Even where it’s been is really strong QB play. There is a microscope on everything he does, from how he walks into a building to how he plays the position. We don’t root in this business, but man it would be cool if he could just put everyone to the side this year & ball out.”

DeMeco Ryans to Jonathan M Alexander on CJ Stroud: “CJ’s been locked in. I see a guy who’s focused, locked in, not that he wasn’t locked in before. I also think I give him some grace from him being a rookie & having rookie success, everybody’s pulling at you, everybody wants attention & you’re the hot name, rightfully so. Probably get lost a little bit in those things, now he’s just more dialed in to the preparation, more comfortable with the offense. It’s a quicker transition because things were sped up the 2nd time around. That allows him to be more locked in, him actually being here. He had an injury last offseason where he couldn’t participate. Now he’s been healthy all offseason, looks good, in shape, I can only imagine what’s next for him. When I’ve seen guys have really good offseason, that translates to having a really good season, so CJ is due for a really good one.”

CJ Stroud is my Lil Bro. I love him. He had an awful outing yesterday, but miss me with questioning his future. I believe his play cost the Texans defense a historic playoff run, but people are forgetting he’s gotten the Texans to the Divisional round 3 years straight. The Patriots defense is on a heater. Where was all of this talk about quarterback’s future when they shut dominated Justin Herbert last week? CJ has to do some soul searching, he needs to progress, but he’s the Texans’ guy. It’s all about adding value going forward. #HoustonTexans #CJstroud #NewEngladPatriots #NFL

Kyle Shanahan on having a lot more confidence in his offensive line than the public had over the years: “I don’t understand why people say that. I think our Oline has played at a very high level these last few years. We’ve always protected our quarterback very well. We’ve been able to run the ball well. I’ve been real happy with our Oline.” 🎥: 49ers on NBCS

Nick Caserio when asked how the playoff games may weigh into a potential extension for CJ Stroud: “If we wanna go game by game, we don’t win the KC game without CJ Stroud. He’ll be the first to tell you he didn’t play well on Sunday. I’m not gonna sit here and tell you he played well either. He knows that. Look at his body of work, this guy’s been a damn good QB in this league. For 3 years. It’s the truth. Again, you want to look at everything in totality, every player, we’ll always look at their situation & it’s always case by case.” I can definitely see a world in which the Texans sign him to an extension this offseason.
