Nick Caserio when asked how the playoff games may weigh into a potential extension for CJ Stroud: “If we wanna go game by game, we don’t win the KC game without CJ Stroud. He’ll be the first to tell you he didn’t play well on Sunday. I’m not gonna... show more

Almost wrote a really long reply with my thoughts but figured it might be best for an article

I mean I think the overreactions and recency bias are very severe. I don’t have any doubt he is the franchise QB and he will never be cheaper. If they were smart they’d do it now

What can’t be understated is the professionalism and respect that Caserio has earned with players/agents in the league. This is an example of why. Even if you have doubt you project full confidence in your guy.

That Davis Mills wasn’t put in that game is just criminal. All they needed was someone who lacked chaos. CJ Stroud was utter chaos behind the center for 2 straight games. His time as a big time qb on a great squad is over. I don’t see him ever coming back from this. He’s another Deshaun Watson type head case.

We don’t win the Jags game with CJ Stroud Nick

I don’t think he should get extended yet but I wouldn’t be mad if they signed him for around 30 mil a year.. maybe this is the time to sign him and get a discount

Zero chance he signs a 30m per year contract 😂

@jg_clutch_city I mean 30 million ain’t bad of a contract when u think abt it

@jg_clutch_city It’s a very bad contract for a qb

We will sign him then regret it years down the road when every playoff appearance is lost again and again because of his poor performance in clutch games. It’s gonna suck to be a Houston Texan for some years to come if we settle down with a extremely cocky, low self awareness CJ

could be advantageous in a world where QB contracts are so black and white - to get something done in the middle ground on a shorter term would align with Caserio on his short term flexibility philosophy but would also be pretty unprecedented around the league

Ryan’s is clueless on Offense. 3 years never saw urgency to fix OL. He let CJ get the crap beat out of him. #Texans this franchise already ruined 1 QB David Carr, ironically with also defensive HC. See the trend? Can’t win with a bad OL. Period! Hits on QB are accumulative.

Pls dear god let them people pay Cj. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Prop him up to ship him out

Right, but you’re playing Jared Stidham for a chance to get to the Suowr Bowl if you bench him for Davis Mills. Cognitive dissonance is such a strong force!!! I hope the keep him so we don’t have to worry about Houston in the AFC

Mid GM

Not going all in on the O-line and also not bringing in a reliable deep threat hurt CJ’s development. That’s on Caserio

They better not

This is all I took from that answer... Caserio:

I’d rather them not pay him much now

If the Texans give him an extension north of 20 mil per season they will go back to being a terrible team and franchise. Dive into demeco and defense and draft a qb in 2027

A KC team who lost several in a row. Come on Nick, that is all you got. Trade CJ and give Davis the ball.

The KC game? Lol. KC was a non playoff team.

I can too if it benefits the team. If he thinks he should get max numbers or top 5 Qb (which, why wouldn’t he? On podcasts he always counts himself among the top 5) then that’s an abso-fcking-lutely not.

He has regressed every year. Hire another QB coach

Can someone make a gif of his shrug

so the Texans want to continue to lose? got it.

CJ stroud after 3 years… yeah go ahead and extend him Houston

Cook in some conditions into his contract and prevent him from appearing on podcasts

Huge mistake if so.... make him prove it. We all see he needs to prove it... and no being middle of the pack in starting quarterback by actual stats isn't being damn good.

Stroud is smart enough to know with a 10-7 lead, defense was playing hard, and you receive to start the second half. No reason to just toss the ball up in the air for an easy pick six. 14-10 just like that. After Bryant slipped you're better off just taking the sack on that play.

Oh hey it’s the o line that was addressed oh it’s the receivers that has been addressed oh wait a minute it’s the OC that has been addressed. Texans gave CJ the tools to succeed no excuse!

Or better yet Stroud could've still made a quick pass attempt to Harrison Bryant after Bryant had tripped and fell down. Could've still went with the original bail out on that play. Would've been considered an eligible target in the area. Would not have been intentional grounding

Why is the bar so low in Houston for QB play…

Cj threw his defense under the bus in that last interview. He said he didn't have to be superman this year. Wtf Texans Defense has won them games since he been in the league. I think at this point damage is done Cj has to go

CJ Stroud has superstar potential. You can easily pinpoint to certain moments when he made special plays that only a handful of QBs make. Problem is consistency. I'm tired of pointing the blame at the OC, O-Line, injuries. The best QBs still find ways to win the biggest games.
