Boris Cherny: "Maybe don’t listen to the LinkedIn influencers. The thing about the model is that everyone is looking for one weird trick to make it work, but that simply doesn’t exist. There is nothing like that. You have to approach the model empirically. Give it a task that is too hard. Give it the tools to verify its work, just as you would use those tools yourself if you were doing the task. See where it struggles, and then fix the problem with better prompting, a skill, or if the model is missing context, an MCP connection that allows it to retrieve the context it needs. That is basically it. It sounds very simple. Jennifer Doudna won the Nobel Prize for gene editing and went on Bloomberg to say the chatbots everyone is betting on cannot innovate at all. Every promise Silicon Valley is making about AI curing disease just hit the one person qualified to check it. She has spent her whole career inside the actual frontier of curing disease. So when she talks about what AI can and cannot do in biology, she is not guessing. She is reporting from inside the lab. Her words were blunt. She is not seeing chatbots innovate. They summarize data. They write reports. They do not come up with a brand new idea nobody has ever had. Then the interviewer pushed. So you're saying AI can't innovate? Doudna did not flinch. She does not know if it can't. She just does not see it doing it right now. This lands harder when you remember who is making the opposite case. Sam Altman says AI will eliminate disease within five years. Larry Ellison says AI will cure cancer in a 48 hour window. An OpenAI executive even floated that the company should get a cut of sales on any drug discovered through ChatGPT. Doudna answered that in two words. Good luck. Even the cancer specialists Altman is selling to keep warning that cancer is not one disease but hundreds, each needing its own cure, and that compute does not skip the years of lab work. Her reason is simpler. Biology is hard. You cannot simulate your way to an understanding of the human body. The people promising cures are the ones selling the tool. Ed Zitron said on Bloomberg that every dollar you spend on an AI subscription burns between three and thirteen dollars behind the scenes. The price you pay has almost nothing to do with what the product costs. Your twenty dollar plan feels cheap because it is supposed to. The real cost of running the model on your prompts is several times what you hand over. The gap is covered by venture capital, not by the business working. That gap cannot stay open forever. At some point the price has to move toward the real cost. When it does, the product you built your day around gets more expensive or gets worse. Probably both. We have already seen the preview. When Anthropic raised its real token rates last year, the startups built on top of it had to scramble. Cursor, one of the fastest growing coding tools in the world, was forced to tear up its pricing overnight because the underlying cost it had been shielded from suddenly landed on its books. That is the whole industry in miniature. Everyone downstream is building on a number that is not real yet. Millions of people are wiring AI into how they work, how they write, how they code. They are doing it at a price that exists to hook them, not to last. The subsidy is not generosity. It is a customer acquisition cost with an expiration date. The bill is coming. AI has started building its own successors. It's happening right now. Humans still kick most of it off, but the models are already training the next models, and each version builds a better version faster than the last. We know what happens when something gets an advantage and the substrate is there... it proliferates incredibly fast. Soon it just runs the whole process itself. People are still debating whether AI takes your job. That's not the question. You can't compete with this intelligence at all. Next to it the human is negative value, the slowest one in the room. And this is the slowest it will ever move again. It's about to run on its own, faster than we can conceive of, and nobody's prepared for that. Wonderful conversation as ever with Emad.

It does not state that in-between. Talarico: God is so much bigger than every single category. God is bigger than any of our understandings, and it’s important for us to remember that when having these discussions. What is clear from Scripture is that we are commanded to love thy neighbor as thyself.
