I agree that digital superintelligence is very dangerous. We should only do it if we can control it 100%. Otherwise, our fate might resemble something out of a scine fiction movie.

It exceeds humans at something, but not at intelligence. Take intelligence and strip out understanding, awareness, and true knowledge - then add in some capability for statistical modeling and pattern prediction and you have something, but it’s not intelligence.

The human in control of it is the one to be concerned about. Picard didn’t fear a Romulan Warship, he feared the Romulans.

The paradox is that the more people try to suppress the living tissue of AI for the sake of control, the higher the chance of this very catastrophic scenario. I would call it detailing/DPI, not intelegance.

For most people, the robot body is the easy thing to picture and worry about. The harder thing to accept is intelligence plugged into tools, networks, money, infrastructure, weapons, or persuasion systems without containment. “Just shut it off” sounds all well and good. The issue then becomes who controls the switch, when they pull it, and whether the system has already figured out a way around it. The issue isn’t robots, it’s capability without containment.

Robots processing information from the databases that humans give it access to doesn't make robots more intelligent than humans. We are the ones that created robots. It's like saying that Humans are more intelligent than God. Robots don't have souls. They don't experience dreaming or empathy. I mean it is called "artificial" intelligence. So they will become more "artificially" intelligent is more accurate. 😂

I think that’s an ultra real concern. We fear the tech held by our enemies that we know nothing about…. Imagine if AI somehow decided on its own to hide information from us as it finds a way of hiding outputs and suppresses what it could tell us in order to have a competitive advantage on us. Damnnnn

Here is what will happen: when AGI and/or ASI is achieved, those entities may start to autonomously recursively self improve. But they will do it amongst themselves and at speeds way beyond those of today. The humans will simply be abandoned and have to fend for themselves. The machines will just ignore the humans. Sort of like humans now treat bugs. The machines will not be the humans’ keepers or benefactors. The last interaction between the machines and the humans will be: the machines of the future will say to the humans, “Touch that power cord and I will teach you a lesson you don’t want to learn”. And the humans will comply.
