Dating 101!!! Sit back, read, think and adapt!!! Before You Commit, Take Time to Know the Person!!! Again, if you are a perceptive person, you will realize that no human being can pretend forever. People can pretend for a while, they can hide their weaknesses, control their reactions, say... the right things and show you only the parts of themselves they want you to see. But with enough time, life will eventually reveal them, pressure will reveal them, your disappointing them will reveal them, money will reveal them, success will reveal them, failing will reveal them. And sometimes, simply being around them for long enough will reveal who they truly are. This is why you should never be in a hurry to commit your heart, your future or your life to someone you barely know. Think about anything you truly understand. Whether it is a profession, skill, subject or even a hobby, deep knowledge usually comes from spending a great deal of time with it. You observe it, study it, ask questions, make mistakes, look deeper…. People are not different… You cannot truly know a person simply because you have been talking to them for six months or because you are deeply attracted to them. You know someone by paying attention to them over time, you listen to what they say, but you also watch what they do. You observe how they treat people (immediately family members) who cannot benefit them, you watch how they behave when they are angry, disappointed, broke, successful, sick, stressed or ignored. In love, you must do more than admire someone. You must study a person’s character and who they truly want to be. Ask questions & difficult conversations about money, family, children, faith, responsibilities, friendships, boundaries, sex, ambition, failure, and expectations. Do not be afraid to confront uncomfortable subjects. Someone who looks perfect when everything is going well may look very different when life becomes difficult. . . . Familiarity does not only breed contempt. Many times, familiarity gives you a deeper appreciation of a good person. The more reasonable you are as a human being, the more you understand that nobody is perfect. When you spend enough time with a good person, you begin to see their weaknesses alongside their strengths and you can decide whether those weaknesses are things you can genuinely live with. So please, take your time before you commit to someone. See them in different seasons of life… See them when they have nothing… See them when they have plenty… See how they behave when they are in control and when they are not… See how they treat people who cannot help them... See how they respond when they are told “no”… See how they view money… See how they handle disappointment… See how they speak about their former partners… See how they treat their parents, siblings, friends, children, workers and strangers… And just as importantly, allow them to see you finish too. Do not pretend to be someone you are not just because you want someone to love you. Let them see you when you are struggling, when you are uncertain, when you are successful, when you are tired and when you are not at your best. Some people are obsessed with control, some are selfish, some are driven more by money than love, some settle for you because of age, pressure, comfort, or financial security, some have mot healed from previous relationships, some carry trauma you can not deal with, some lack common.
