Not “avoid the drugs.” Not “our city has a massive problem.” Just taxpayer-funded advice on how to use drugs more safely while visiting. Welcome to Vancouver under David Eby and the BC NDP. This is what years of decriminalization, “safe supply,” open drug use, and harm reduction-first policy have delivered. A city preparing for the World Cup by warning tourists about the drug supply. The city is so broken that public health is now giving drug-use tips to World Cup visitors. But apparently only Instagram and TikTok users need to know. Facebook and X users? Good luck, I guess. Because apparently the drug supply is dangerous. Just not dangerous enough to warn everyone.

This spring, San Francisco will open our RESET Center as another tool to address open drug use. When law enforcement arrest people for using drugs on our streets, those individuals will be taken to the RESET Center to sober up and get connected to treatment. Staying on the street and continuing to use drugs is not an option.

Tourists visiting Vancouver are shocked. They come from normal cities without radical pro-drug experiments, and they are shocked and appalled by what they see on our streets here. The NDP have turned Vancouver, the most beautiful city in the world, into a national embarrassment. Tourists are openly sharing their disappointment after witnessing open drug use, street disorder, and feeling unsafe in areas that should showcase the best of British Columbia. This is gross incompetence on full display. Under the NDP, everything related to public safety is suffering. We need real solutions now. Expanded compassionate involuntary care for those trapped in addiction and severe mental health crises. A justice system that actually holds offenders accountable. And strong, well-supported police forces empowered to restore order. We need to clean up this NDP-created mess and make our cities safe.

We can all see it isn’t working. Mayor Ken Sim and your ABC Vancouver team are bringing forward a public safety plebiscite so you can have your say, and give the City and Province a clear mandate for tangible change. A YES vote would mean tangible change in how open-air hard drug use is enforced in Vancouver’s public spaces. The City already enforces bylaws governing activities such as smoking in public spaces. Premier David Eby and the VPD spent huge resources clearing the homeless drug addicts from the streets and stopping open air drug use. This is the same government that swore we needed open air drug use, human feces on the sidewalk, injection sites and needed to fight stigma around homelessness, to save lives. But I guess those "life saving measures" are not needed during FIFA. The BC NDP are so embarrassed about the conditions they forced on Vancouverites, that they had to cover it all up, when the world comes to major events. If history is any guide, things in Vancouver will return to the wretched old normal in a few weeks & slide even further into dystopia, heading into winter. If there ever was proof the BC NDP are a failed government, it's the need to radically change how Vancouver operates, simply because the world is temporarily watching.
