Newsom has vetoed audits that would get to the bottom of some of that fraud. Why would you ever do that? We need audits. Before you propose new and unprecedented taxes, I think you have an obligation to taxpayers to make sure that their money is being well spent. The first place to look is with all this fraud. It's not even that. It's that our pockets here are raided by politicians, by force, every single election. New tax. New bond. New request to grab more and more of our money, every year. "It's just temporary to close a budget shortfall". No. It's not. It never is. The last "temporary" tax measure is still in effect, and it's looking like the legislature is working to make it permanent. Then, we turn around and see nothing. We see worse streets. Empty reservoirs. Crumbling infrastructure. A dysfunctional DMV. Terrible local crime. On and on, and realize we're forking over half our earnings over, by force, and getting nothing back. It's not just about fraud. It's about politicians thinking our money is theirs. That they have some "right" to it. Just look at the garbage people mad at high earners for moving out of state, and listen to them whine. Tells you all you need to know. These people think they deserve your money more than you do. Enough is enough.
