Daylight Saving Time ends this weekend, which means less daylight, longer nights, and a rise in Seasonal Affective Disorder. It’s long past time we LOCK THE CLOCK.

Coach, Daylight Saving Time does not create more daylight, and morning darkness is WORSE for Seasonal Affective Disorder! We need to end clock change by restoring healthy, permanent Standard Time!

You are only half right. We need to lock the clock, but on Standard Time!

Wrong. DST is not natural time. It throws off the human circadian rhythm. We tried this permanent DST in the 70s and it failed miserably. Permanent Standard Time is natural time and much more healthy. Look at the research.

STANDARD TIME!! Do your research! CIRCADIAN RHYTHMS!!!!! There is no reason that 54 million children should be going to school in the dark in the morning. Safety is the priority here!!! And, there is no reason that 83 million workers should be traveling in the dark in the morning hours to work.

This "less daylight, longer nights..." comes from the changes of the seasons, it has nothing to do with a clock nor DST. If you don't 'Spring Forward' for DST, NEWS FLASH, the days still get longer with more daylight hours... why? Nature! End DST, lock in Standard Time.

Lol no, we do not want Daylight Savings Time, no matter how pretty it sounds. We want permanent Standard Time, just the way our founding fathers had it. Lock the clock on permanent Standard Time!

Senator, We all agree to lock the clocks. But permanent DST doesn’t eliminate SAD. It’s caused by shorter days. Only God can fix that problem. Standard time fits our natural circadian rhythms.

Nope. Standard time is healthier. Kids dont have to go to school in the dark. Our bodies natural rhythms are in line,, we wake in the light and sleep in the dark. Standard Time is natural time.

Put it somewhere and leave it. Arizona and Puerto Rico stay on standard time and they are fine.

The amount of daylight and length of nights is determined by physics, not what time the government tells me it is.

Locking the clock is preferable to shifting but the @NIMHgov data say ST is better than DST and @LaraWeed explains well as to why. Also @SamerHattar chief of section on light and circadian rhythms @NIMHgov

@SSGTPortDog Standard Time is healthier (promotes sleep) and is safer for school age children. Let’s do what’s right for the kids. MAHA.

Standard time for the 95% that don't have dome weird SAD affliction... this is the natural time! Put it on the ballot and let us decide because the vast majority want standard time...

Yes, lock it at Daylight Saving Time. Don't listen to the standard time zealots. They fight for 4 months of standard time, we want those 4 months with daylight longer. If it's about kids going to school in the dark, schools can open later instead.

Just an FYI. You live on the eastern edge of the time zone. Sun comes up at 7am for you but 8am for people on the western edge of a time zone. You are proposing that those western folks won't see the sun until almost 9am on the shortest day of the year. How would you like that?

@IH_Scout_2 Lock the clock on standard time - not DST. If you want more daylight hours in Bama, move the state into the Eastern Time Zone.

Days don’t get longer with the artificial adjustment of the clock. SAD is dependent on the Season, not the clock.

Sorry Senator, this is the only thing we disagree on. Daylight Savings Time is horrible, once we turn the clocks back to STANDARD time, let's keep them there.

NOPE. Save Standard time. DST is NOT natural time. DST does not save light sir. Only the government would believe that cutting a foot off the top of a blanket and sewing it to the bottom could make the blanket longer. Good lord. With permanent DST where I live? It would be dark at 8am for 3 solid months or more. NO.

Absolutely NOT! Children's safety first!! This was done in 1974 and greatly increased harm and death to children walking to school on dark mornings. Our biology is best enhanced by exposure to morning light. God knows best! Standard Time all year round.

Wait, changing our clocks magically reduces daylight? Interesting. Lock the clock at STANDARD TIME. Our bodies are designed for standard time, not daylight savings time.

Standard time only, stop the fear mongering. DST doesn’t make the day longer or create more daylight. Get out in the morning and get yourself a lux light and increase your vitamin D intake. Winter causes seasonal effective disorder not clocks, SEASONS. Hence the name seasonal 🙄

All completely false. Daylight Savings Time doesn’t change how much daylight is available per day. The sun doesn’t answer to you. It only affects what time you call it. Personally, I’d rather call noon, “noon” and not “1PM” like an uneducated caveman for the rest of my life.

👎👎👎It’s supposed to be dark at night time in winter! Sunrise is for morning hours— We sing about “Dawn’s Early Light” in our National Anthem! Don’t manipulate natural rhythms. Leave nature alone!

From a circadian health perspective, locking the clock would be preferable. However, our research indicates that there may be more health benefits to locking at permanent standard time than permanent DST. I'll be discussing this more Thursday evening!

Lock the clock to Permanent Standard Time. We tried year round Daylight savings time in 1973-74. I know because I was catching my bus in the dark at 7:30 in the morning for months. It was a disaster nationwide.
