She watched the others from the edges – feeding, putting weight back on, working out who was who. Mud baths happened around her, not with her. And then, the Keepers found her trunk-deep in one, alongside Mzinga, Muridjo and Olomunyak, getting comprehensively coated. A step in the right direction, wouldn't you agree?

Today, she decided she was ready to join the gang in the mud bath (and our staff member filming dutifully got covered in mud so we could remember it). Older, grief stricken orphans often withdraw from the world after rescue, retreating into their memories of their lost herd, and Alia was no exception.
