Problem is tecmo/team ninja got overly greedy with this IP and monetizing it bad with costume dlcs, character dlcs, etc. Even that new extreme volleyball game is monetized. DOA4 was literally the last good game of this IP before they went full GREED! Same with DOAX2.

Among the people who don't get enough recognition for their contributions to gaming history, I often think Chris Sawyer falls into that group. There was a time when I couldn't wait to get home, disappear into my room, and build the most awesome roller coaster park. What Sawyer created with RollerCoaster Tycoon will forever be part of iconic gaming history. He developed the game more or less by himself (insane skill!), a pretty rare feat in 1999 when big studios and large teams were the norm. Sawyer coded the original in assembly language, creating realistic coaster physics, guests with individual needs, and - of course - chaos like vomiting or ride breakdowns. The sweet "ka-ching" of fees lives rent-free in my head. What an absolutely brilliant sandbox-like game, with practically endless replay value, similar to games like Sim City or Civilization.

THIS SOLO DEV IS BUILDING A 2.5D MEDIEVAL SWORD FIGHTING GAME AND THE COMBAT LOOKS INSANE one person working alone on a full combat system with 2.5D art style he designed and built the art, environments, and animations himself. vibe coded the game mechanics with a game engine the silhouette work and the environments already look polished. the characters move through these detailed medieval landscapes with real weight to the animations 2.5D means the characters and world are flat sprites but rendered in a 3D space so you get depth, parallax, and lighting effects without needing a full 3D engine the combat has directional attacks, parrying, and what looks like a stamina based system. all built by one person i think it needs a bit more hit feedback like hit-stop and sharper audio on contact to make every swing feel heavier. small tweaks that would take it from looking good to feeling incredible but nonetheless this looks pretty slick. insane what one person can do now with vibe coding + a game engine solo game devs are building things that would have required a full studio 5 years ago

The new Star Fox stages don’t look good for a Star Fox game. They look genuinely high quality. Full stop. The environments have real weight and presence for the first time. The lighting actually does something instead of just existing. The scale during flight feels massive instead of cramped. These levels look like proper, expensive, modern Nintendo environments. Most of the conversation is still stuck on the characters. But the stages are where this game has actually taken a proper visual leap. The worlds finally feel like they belong in 2026 instead of looking like they’re still fighting the limitations of older hardware. They’re hyping Mixtape as this must-support “indie game”… except it was spearheaded by the daughter of Larry Ellison, one of the richest men in the world. The most obvious industry plant. Not to mention the art looks awful. Shoving characters into 4-5 FPS doesn’t make it “artistic” just because Spider-Verse did it once. Same lazy copy-paste formula we saw kill creativity at major studios like Disney. Art is dying, and it’s the activists and the corporatists killing it.

I've been thinking about games that feel truly ageless - ones that are essentially as enjoyable and satisfying today as they were when they first released. You can go back to classics like Pong, Space Invaders, or Pac-Man, but it’s hard to deny that you can see (and feel) their age now. They’re still fun, but time hasn’t passed them by unnoticed. I would argue that Tetris is the most ageless game ever made. It never relied on flashy graphics or impressive sound; its strength lies in one of the simplest and most brilliant concepts in gaming history. I'm confident it will still be played in 100 years - and that it will have exactly the same addictive appeal then as it does now. Can you think of any other games that fit this pretty rare category?

It is hard to understand "UFO physics", because many aspects of that technology disagree with what we know about magnetic physics, from previous experiments here on Earth! For example, when a spinning flywheel with 4 NNNN magnets reaches a spin frequency of 10 Hz (or 20 Hz for a flywheel with 8 NSNSNSNS magnets), it creates a non-magnetic STASIS FIELD in its center, where anti-clockwise spin and clockwise counter-spin forces seem to CANCEL or COLLIDE. This may be involved in some way with UFO physics, but since we have never seen it before, we find it hard to understand how it works, or what to do next! The 'Great Professors" in our Schools do not have a clue. Your A.I. devices do not have a clue either. Clowns to the left, jokers to the right. I will keep trying.

Little discoveries like this are what make the exploration so addictive. There’s always something hidden, something you missed, or something pulling you off track. almost 9 years in the making btw. been following this game since i was like in late high school lmao Touge Attack. - Physics is a basic car simcade thing - collisions is really rough - sense of speed is insane, although it feels like it was made for vibes not gameplay - gamepad controls are really rough and sluggish. - we haven't looked at the rest of the gameplay, the whole demo right now just a barebones time attack with what essentially a glorified model viewer you'd better off playing assetto corsa with gamepad mod if you're looking for a good simcade. however, IMO what will make or break this game is what gameplay loop it'll eventually offer
