@mkainerugaba ‘I have made a mistake’ As a student of Ugandan political history, I don’t think it would have been imaginable for a man in uniform to make such a statement 41 years ago. All politics aside, we have to recognize the professionalism of that UPDF instills within its ranks!!

@mkainerugaba I support that a "file" is opened on her and she gets to learn to respect our men in Uniform. The officer was calm bambi, he is just disciplined or may be over disciplined.

@mkainerugaba No activist will praise the SFC officer for restraint or condemn Chumi for assaulting the soldier. Had he fought back, the same voices would cry “toxic masculinity,” demand his court-martial, and portray the aggressor as the victim.

What justice for the officer are you talking about? The only thing that happened is an SFC vehicle driving through potholes full of dirty water and soaking a woman on the road. That was the actual problem. He didn’t need the law as a shield. There is no law that lets a man in uniform splash someone and then start shouting at her instead of saying sorry. Wearing that uniform does not cancel basic human dignity. He should have got out, apologised to the lady, and left it there. The entitlement some people in uniform and government walk around with needs to end. They are supposed to treat civilians with respect, not act like the rest of us are beneath them. If anyone needed justice here, it was the woman who got soaked , not the officer. Stop flipping the story. Wearing a uniform and a gun does not exclude him from being respectful People in uniform have committed worse injustices to Ugandans I have never seen you speaking up for them

Ugandans on X, tugende mpola, let's not be like the tiktokers we are quoting here whose main aim is to trend. These altercations are always common on Ugandan Roads and Citizens(officers included) always resolve these issues. What troubles me from reading the comments is that citizens have started normalizing our gallant officers as being above reprimand, this is wrong. We still have Grandfathers, Fathers and Uncles who still tell us stories of that time in the History of Uganda where soldiers were the Village Chiefs. I pray we don't go down that Road again as we have a strong and enlightened village LC 1 system.

Ugandans are interesting people. We are quick to demand the rule of law when the law is on our side, but when the matter is in our own hands, sometimes mob justice and jungle law suddenly become acceptable. In this case, the officer reportedly acknowledged that he was wrong and was willing to face the long arm of the law. That should have been the point where the law took over not where citizens took matters into their own hands. The irony is that if the tables were turned, the same public would be demanding accountability from the police, exposing indiscipline within the force and insisting that officers must follow the law. The rule of law cannot be conditional. We cannot demand lawful conduct from those in uniform while abandoning the law ourselves whenever emotions take over. If we genuinely believe in justice, then justice must apply even when we are angry, even when the person before us is wrong, and even when we believe they deserve punishment.

@mkainerugaba The woman is arrogant. This officer behaved professionally trying to show her the right procedure. How dare does she try to physically confront a well trained, 24hrs armed officer in a national uniform! She's stupid. Afande just drive and go away.

@mkainerugaba And why are only banyakole and banyarwanda quarrelling in the comment section 😂😂😂😂😂 Anyway being in uniform doesn't give you powers to be over everything. And I think chumi was right to confront him there and then cz you can't go into laws and you think this will be solved

Dear Afande Gen. @mkainerugaba, greetings from Kigali. I respectfully watched the video of an SFC officer being insulted and assaulted by a civilian. As your cousin from Rwanda, such conduct towards a member of the Republican Guard would be unthinkable here; indeed, even such behaviour towards an ordinary police constable would not be tolerated. Uganda's "red & green tops/berets" once commanded immense respect. May we restore that culture of discipline and respect for our security personnel. Respectfully, Gobby 🇷🇼🇺🇬

PLU NEWS; The Chief of Defence Forces and Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba Muhoozi Kainerugaba yesterday evening hosted retired United States Army Lieutenant General Michael Thomas Flynn to a dinner at Serena Hotel Kigo. During the engagement, Gen Kainerugaba thanked Lt Gen Flynn for taking time to visit the country, describing the meeting as the beginning of a meaningful relationship. “We used to study some of his papers when we were at Fort Leavenworth and we are honoured that he is here with us. I believe this is the beginning of a very consequential and important relationship,” Gen Kainerugaba said. The CDF noted that much of their earlier discussions focused on the role of education in building responsible citizens and future leaders. He emphasised the importance of educating young people to love their country, value their nation and uphold strong moral values. According to Gen Kainerugaba, the discussions also explored the potential role of the military in strengthening education systems and leadership development among young people. He explained that the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces already runs military primary and secondary schools which follow the national curriculum set by the Ministry of Education and Sports, but noted that there may be lessons to learn from the United States model. Gen Kainerugaba cited the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC), a program integrated within schools that prepares young people for leadership and military service. “Perhaps we need to think about how we can develop something similar within our own system,” he said. #PLUUpdate
