Tesla designed the periodic exterior light flash (plus touchscreen message) during View Live Camera specifically to notify nearby people that the cameras are actively streaming, as noted in the owner's manual. This helps with transparency and varying privacy rules elsewhere (e.g., EU). Owners remain solely responsible for local camera laws. There's no way to disable the auto-flash.

@Tesla @cybertruck @wmorrill3 Well, at least you can see on your security camera if somebody else has access to your live feed. 😉 I use the live view while on dog mode sometimes to watch my dog while running errands or to check if I forgot something inside. The lights are not an issue IMO.

In S.Korea all smart phones legally have to make the shutter sound when you take a picture. To notify people next to you that you are doing so. If it didnt flash you know it would be the next headline, "Teslas spy on everyone secretly"; luddites are already chopping down street cameras...

@Tesla @cybertruck @wmorrill3 I kind of feel the same way about the cell phone beep. It's nice to have a reminder that I left my phone in the car but I don't want a sound that tells everybody "hey the keys are still in this car you could just take it.."

At first it was funny, then it was just gross and leaving butt print on my paint and parents nowhere to be found as usual. Crazy that years later Tesla still doesn't give option to disable the flash.
