Dear USGA and Golf Genius Software… Two 9-hole rounds shot on the same day at the same course should count as ONE 18-hole round on the Ghhhhiiiinnnn! Unless you’re cool with an 8.2 handicap shooting a 66 (NET 57) and hardly dropping their index. 🤷🏼♂️ #TheYipRule #golf #journalism

@USGA @GolfGenius I’ll go a step further: 9 holes rounds should not count at all as the differentials are completely bogus due to the “Ghost 9” that they get combined with. There was nothing wrong with the old system of needing two actual 9 hole scores before they counted. Fix this @USGA !

@USGA @GolfGenius 9 hole posting should be researched better. There are players who have figured out if they post 9 hole scored their index won't be as impacted compared to 18 hole scores. Definitely a flaw in the system.

@USGA @GolfGenius Thanks for this clear-cut example. Shared it with our local pro and asked him to provide feedback to USGA. If enough club pros provide feedback- maybe something happens to correct this.

@USGA @GolfGenius My man 🫡

@USGA @GolfGenius Holy shit, the yip covering my club!!! Dreams do come true!

@USGA @GolfGenius 9 hole postings are a huge flaw with the current system, old way was better. Hard to drop a hdcp as a 6 when you post a -1 front 9 and you get a differential of 5 or whatever.

@USGA @GolfGenius My buddy played him in that 66 round. Got boned. What a shit show.

@USGA @GolfGenius Thoughts and prayers for your buddy 🙏

@USGA @GolfGenius Too many cheaters in the world for any system to be valid

@USGA @GolfGenius There is no good way of tracking 9 hole rounds. The old way of storing a 9 hole to combine with a random isn’t ideal either. But this new way is terrible. Ghost rounds should not exist. The best solution I can come up with is every round is tracked as 9 hole rounds. Post 2 if 18

@USGA @GolfGenius As a distinguish handicap and competition chairman for my golf committee this is broken and needs fixed, the USGA needs to fix this problem, and they will be on the way to making Net golf a little better

@USGA @GolfGenius I refuse to post 9 hole rounds. The way the @USGA handles them is so broken

@USGA @GolfGenius A 7.0 shoots 66 in competition.??? Definable 🐀 behavior. @USGA @GolfGenius

@USGA @GolfGenius Yip has made it to Iowa baby!!

@USGA @GolfGenius 9 hole postings are literally just legalized sandbagging. It’s a disgrace

@USGA @GolfGenius They should auto combine the two rounds. Does it not do that anymore?!?

@USGA @GolfGenius How about he just submits it as one round instead. How tf is USGA supposed to know what he did inbetween the 9 holes? Could’ve gotten a lesson, massage, blowjob.. anything

I agree. USGA should fix this. Seems like there is no perfect handicap system. The fact is that many players index’s are “managed” to stay elevated while another small group of players play well under pressure of competition. Playing to LI in competition is prob best method to root out baggers but not perfect.

@USGA @GolfGenius Nah Playing 18 straight harder than two 9’s They count the 9’s now of course so enter ur scores and deal

@USGA @GolfGenius The score is outrageous, but I suspect their competition probably conceded putts after being out of the hole and entered the score out of spite 🤣 And what's up with the match numbers? Going from 7 up to 1 up after winning a hole? Maxed points maybe?

@USGA @GolfGenius Shotgun start

@USGA @GolfGenius

@USGA @GolfGenius Never heard so much common sense in my life…..with that said, I give it no shot of changing 😅.

@USGA @GolfGenius An 8 handicap going -2 and -4 in two nine hole is only 1:50,000? That’s crazy lol

@USGA @GolfGenius While I agree, at least he now has two 18-hole equivalent scores dragging his handicap down instead of one.

@USGA @GolfGenius @MidAmChaser - your club got journalism'd

@USGA @GolfGenius Stop playing handicap events if you are so worried about sand bagging its the dumbest thing ever... the entire system caters to people lying

@USGA @GolfGenius That is only if it’s one round under the same rules. If it is two separate rounds then it’s a separate 9H score scaled up!

@USGA @GolfGenius @USGA @GolfGenius . This makes perfect sense and will maintain even more integrity to the game.

@USGA @GolfGenius

@USGA @GolfGenius The handicap is locked before the tournament starts.

@USGA @GolfGenius As bad as cheaters suck, I’d rather you go after the USGA for their terrible system. How is that a scratch can’t break par net, but a 22 can shoot a 59 net? Because the current system is ego driven and current scratch golfers are actually 4’s

@USGA @GolfGenius #Cosign!!!

@USGA @GolfGenius If I only play 9 holes, I post a 9 hole score. Who plays 9 hole rounds twice in one day? At the same course? I think that is pretty uncommon.

@USGA @GolfGenius we had a similar this weekend and each of our 9 hole scores recieved a 18 hole differential based on expected score.

@USGA @GolfGenius At 6000 yrds there’s plenty of birdies to be had.. even for a 7 handicap. If he keeps his handicap from the actual men’s tees it could make a difference for sure.

@USGA @GolfGenius Here is how you solve it. NO HANDICAP system. 1 FLIGHT.

@USGA @GolfGenius I've done this for a work outing. 2 rounds - First 9 is Four Ball so I count that score as my own, but second 9 of is alt shot. Then luch break and first 9 after that is a scramble, but the final 9 is singles match. So I count first & last 9 on the GHIN as separate rounds.

@USGA @GolfGenius Completely agree. Last week, in the men's association, they run two 9-hole tournaments. I shot 35 and 42. 77 should be reported but no, 71 and 83 get reported. I didn't shoot either of those scores. One counts, one doesn't. So unfair.
