I was delighted to visit St Pius X College in Magherafelt and meet some of its remarkable young female leaders. We heard powerful stories of how these young women are pushing boundaries and inspiring change in every walk of life. Together, we must build a future where every woman feels valued, equal and empowered to thrive. As a political leader, I am committed to working with others to make that future a reality — where women in every community can reach their full potential.

Met a group of dairy farmers at a dairy farm run by the loveliest family (and even encountered a cow named Alia Bhatt!!, due apologies to Ms.Bhatt Alia Bhatt, but she was really a cutie pie!). Unfortunately dairy farmers are struggling with multiple difficulties and many are unable to make ends meet. I intend to write to the concerned ministry to apprise them of the many issues they face including the increased cost of veterinary medicines, lack of adequate insurance coverage and difficulty in accessing good quality cattle feed. My gratitude to the many farmers who were kind enough to spend a lot of time explaining these issues to me. I will do whatever I can to help.

Tonight, I met with Frederica, a hardworking mother from my constituency, who is caring for five children, including her son who has autism. She spoke powerfully about the struggles faced by parents of children with disabilities, high costs of assessments, limited financial support, and the daily challenges of providing proper care. Her story reinforces why our government has committed to establishing assessment centres in every parish, ensuring that families no longer face prohibitive costs to access help. We are also increasing allocations for children with disabilities, expanding the number of training and assessment institutions, and ensuring that once a child is assessed and the family is deemed in need, they are automatically placed on the PATH program. Policy is not written in isolation, it comes from listening to real stories like Frederica’s. And I want every mother, father, and caregiver in Jamaica’s disability community to know, your voices are being heard, and your struggles are shaping the policies we put forward.

The tribal community faces serious issues regarding health, connectivity and education. Paddy and coffee farmers also face issues and problems.
