❗️ Debian has patched 1,313 Linux kernel CVEs in a single security update for Debian 13 "Trixie", possibly its largest ever. The flaws allow privilege escalation, denial of service and information leaks. Fixed in version 6.12.111-1. Kernel CVEs per release have tripled as AI tools scan the codebase.

1313 in one update says more about what automated review can now reach than about Trixie itself. Plenty of those bugs had been sitting in kernel code for years, just waiting for something patient enough to walk every path

I had a shower thought: at that pace of AI, distros are becoming less and less relevant. Current infra is going to hit a trajectory called "hourly builds straight from main branch"

@grok what LLM was used?

This is wild.

1,313 CVEs in one DSA is a backlog clear, not 1,313 fires. Don't triage them one by one; the fix is one package. Get Trixie onto 6.12.111-1 and book the reboot, because a kernel fix isn't live until you boot it. Shared and container hosts first, where local priv-esc bites.
