This is how much this man hates South Africa and Africa. He lies that there is a white genocide in South Africa. He made this speech yesterday. It has taken care of millions of Africans, giving them an opportunity to pursue their dreams and to feed their families. There are millions of Africans living in South Africa, and yet Donald Trump is trying to destroy that economy that helps many Africans to sustain a decent living. And yet there is a black African who supports this man and sees Trump as a hero. Trump is an idiot. I do not care about him. But I am astonished that there is a black African somewhere in Africa seeing Donald Trump as a hero, and yet the same Donald Trump is trying to destroy the biggest economy in Africa for no apparent legitimate reason. South Africa has done nothing wrong to America, nothing wrong to Donald Trump, and yet yesterday he made this shameless speech. This makes me absolutely angry, livid, to know that there is an African out there who supports this idiot. He is running his racist refugee programme. He has blocked all other black nationals from Africa from seeking asylum in America. That is fine. We do not care about America. For so many years what Africa called an opportunity and the US tagged a partnership AGOA, only trapped Africa further in a cycle of dependency and cheap natural resource exports. Far from being a loss to Africa, the end of AGOA is an opportunity to rewrite the continent's economics story on its own terms, and in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AFCTA) lies an opportunity to do so in a manner that would be transformational. The time has come for Africa to use its own resources and population to enrich itself, rather than tie itself up in Western dependency masked as "bilateral trade agreements."

I would like to congratulate my dear friend and fellow at the African Leadership Institute, Lerato Mataboge, for being elected to lead the infrastructure and energy portfolio at the African Union. As the new Commissioner for Infrastructure and Energy of the African Union Commission, Lerato will be responsible for one of the most important talking points in Africa that will help propel the continent towards closing the wide gap between itself and other continents. Lerato is a highly intelligent individual who has served as the Deputy Director of Trade for the South African government. South Africa’s loss is truly Africa’s gain, as the continent needs experienced yet youthful bureaucrats chosen for their competence, not through political deals. Africa’s transportation infrastructure is underdeveloped, with only about 53% of roads paved, compared to higher percentages in other developing regions. This inadequacy increases intra-African trade costs by approximately 30–40% making goods more expensive. Africa is struggling with digital infrastructure, with only 0.6 fixed broadband subscriptions per 100 people, compared to 2.1 in South Asia and 10.6 in the Middle East and North Africa. Electing a South African to this important position makes a lot of sense because it is the continental leader in this area and Lerato’s wide network in the areas of economics, trade, banking and other related financial institutions will certainly come in hand. Congratulations to her and thank you to the South African government and its people for sending such a highly qualified leader to the African Union, and congratulations to Africa as a continent!

Britain paid £20 million to former slave-owners in 1833, while France forced Haiti to pay it 150 million francs in 1825 for the “offence” of successfully defeating its colonial rule – a debt which crippled the Caribbean nation for a century. Since the 1400s, Africa has been plundered, exploited and terrorized by the predatory societies of the West. Today, these predatory societies still refuse to acknowledge their crimes and give due reparations to the continent whose soil made them everything they presume to be. They instead tell the people of Africa, who continue to suffer the consequences of their 500 years of terrorism… to “move on”. But Africa is not moving on. And it is done asking politely!
