Why #TulunadState demand is legitimate & constitutional? - Articles 2 & 3 of the Indian Constitution have clear provisions. - Article 347 also has a special provision to protect minority languages under the purview of the President of India. - Tulunad is a distinct geographic region with ancient tribal civilization, cultural heritage, language & written history of more than 2500 to 3000 years through scriptures, palm leaves, Tamil Sangam mentions, oral history goes even beyond with its rich Daivaradhane Sandi-Pardanas. - Tulu is a language of daily business widely spoken by all Tulunad people irrespective of caste, community & religion. - Tulu & Tulunad regions were neglected by all successive state & central governments from 1956 with complete injustice to this region. - The govt. supports education, administration services in the mother tongue but Tulu has been deprived of these rights for the past 70 years. - Govt. of Karnataka has done injustice to Tulu by eliminating the linguistic rights clause in their newly formed 2023 bill, which was there in the 1963, 1981 acts. - Govt. of India, Karnataka, Kerala are delaying & dragging the long pending demand of #Tuluto8thSchedule #TuluOfficialinKA #TuluOfficialinKA_KL & #TulutoClassicalLanguage - In the recent past there are many new states formed with similar demands & criteria. It is shameful to demean the southern states by referring to their thought process as “Choti Soch.” It's a fact that the southern states have developed systematically, effectively controlled population growth, and emerged as the growth engines of India. These remarks are a reflection of the ‘Choti Soch’ of Honourable Union Minister Piyush Goyal ji. According to the recommendations of the 15th Finance Commission, 41% of the taxes collected by the Centre should be allocated to the states. However, due to the imposition of cess and surcharges, the actual share received by the states has significantly reduced. While it is stated that 41% is distributed, the actual amount, states receive only about approximately 30%. When a state receives revenue in the form of taxes, it has the flexibility to allocate funds according to the needs of its people. However, by collecting cess and then distributing it selectively, the Centre is showing bias towards certain states while neglecting others. This is an attempt to centralize financial powers and exert control over the states. States are being forced to bow down to the Centre. Isn’t this against the spirit of federalism? Is this the “Team India” spirit that you speak of? Moreover, while promoting for an increased share of taxes, states are being deprived in two ways by reducing their share in centrally sponsored schemes and by cutting down various Centre-funded government initiatives. It is highly inappropriate to speak disrespectfully when addressing the rights of states. We strongly condemn Piyush Goyal ji’s statements. We urge everyone to recognize that the development of southern states, including #Telangana key contributors to India’s growth ultimately fuels the progress of the entire nation.

In the Karnataka Assembly, I spoke on the persistent neglect of North Karnataka, a region that has been ignored despite 75 years of Karnataka’s formation. Our state was born from the struggles of our people, fighting against the British and the then Congress government in the Centre, with Dharwad as the hub of the unification movement. We united with the hope of development, yet today, North Karnataka is treated like it isn’t part of Karnataka. The Nanjundappa Committee report remains a testament to this inequality. In agriculture, education, healthcare, tourism, and more, the focus has been on South Karnataka, leaving North Karnataka far behind. District-wise income data shows that the best-performing districts are all in the south, while the worst-performing ones are in the north. This disparity is driven by the concentration of private investment and industries like IT, BT, and automobile sectors in Bengaluru and its surroundings, as well as the presence of PSUs like HAL and BHEL in the south. Even in government representation, the inequality is stark—only 12% of gazetted officers and 8% of non-gazetted officers hail from North Karnataka. To address this, the government must take proactive steps: 1️⃣ Develop infrastructure to attract private investment in North Karnataka. 2️⃣ Provide higher incentives for industries to move northward compared to South Karnataka. 3️⃣ Plan the second Bengaluru airport near Tumkur-Shira to facilitate industrial growth in the region Bengaluru is already saturated, forcing people from North Karnataka to migrate for work. Instead, we must create opportunities in their own region for holistic growth.
