India is four times the United States in population. It is ten times, and longer actually, in its civilisational history. It can say to the United States, stop misbehaving. But I am suggesting that India do this together, not by itself, but together with Russia and with China, with Brazil, with the other BRICS countries. I’m saying that for a couple of reasons. First, institutionally, India is the President of the BRICS this year. I regard the BRICS as tremendously important, as consequential and as beneficial for the world, as a stabiliser for the world. Half the world’s population, half the world’s GDP, major countries. And to be able to say we’re not in a US-run world, we’re not in a world where the US can declare it’s going to put another country into the Stone Ages, we’re in a civilised world based on international law, on the UN Charter. So the BRICS presidency is a particular reason. Second, it isn’t pleasant dealing with Mr. Trump, I have no doubt about it. So it’s better to do it together with partners. I like to think of India and China and Russia as partners, not only as fellow members of the BRICS, but as partners in saying we want a multipolar world, not a world of blocs and not a world in which the United States continues its 30-plus-year delusion of hegemony. BRICS is an alliance of nine countries: Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia. BRICS is described as a similar G7 or G20 club for the interests of countries that are not satisfied with the "dominance" of the West. In the video there is a comparison between NATO and BRICS. Of course, NATO is a military pact, while BRICS is an economic pact, but the numbers are interesting.

So what happens with respect to the petrodollar, it’s going to remain dominant because it does have financial depth. But there is a trend towards diversification and BRICS, that is what it’s about. BRICS will use more local currency at a bilateral level. You’ll see greater use of the yuan. Certainly the US has created that by its adverse foreign policy. And in addition to that you’re going to see reserve diversification, you’ll see the interest in non-dollar payment systems, within BRICS and beyond that… It’s going to damage the petrodollar and increase the trading value of the yuan.
