Democrats say this shutdown is about extending Obamacare subsidies. Subsidies or no subsidies, the damn thing is broken. We were told that if we passed Obamacare, health insurance would be cheaper and more accessible. It’s been neither.

It has absolutely been more accessible. The uninsured rate in the US decreased from 14.4% before the ACA to 7.7% in 2023. Over 200,000 Louisianans have ACA coverage. Another 750,000 have Medicaid. Your state is highly reliant on federally subsidized medical care, and you want to watch them lose coverage or have their premiums more than double. You are a terrible Senator.

Obama repeatedly offered to work with Republicans in Congress to fix the flaws in the ACA & Republicans refused because it would help Obama & Democrats politically. So don't try to bullshit the gullible dumbfucks who elected you that actually care more about them than your party.

How about that 24 million Americans have found Obamacare their preferred coverage? 44 million if you Include the related Medicaid subsidies? And that your Dictator’ “great healthcare plan” has been coming “in two week” for 9 years? You & your party are a complete fraud.

Instead of continually bitching about Obamacare, and lying about immigrants getting free healthcare, show the Republicans healthcare plan that will go into effect immediately upon repeal of Obamacare.

Nothing is more broken than having NO HEALTHCARE. Republicans have tried to get rid of the ACA almost 100 times while offering nothing to replace it. Please explain why this is logical

Two things to always remember is that no Republicans voted for Obamacare and that we always said it would fail like any socialist program, and it did. Spectacularly.

DON'T you dare repeal ACA WITHOUT an immediate replacement, on paper, outlined, ready to vote on. NOBODY believes in Trump's "concepts of a plan." It has been 3, 532 days. On your own little MAGA shoulders will the immediate uninsured rates/increase in deaths in Red States rest.

My friend's sister was paying 30K a year for health insurance (she had preexisting conditions) before the ACA was passed, she quickly reached the cap for coverage, and had to divest herself of her assets to qualify for Medicaid, she died before the ACA passed, and she lost her house--are you saying that is a better system John? Are you claiming that premiums weren't skyrocketing before the ACA or that having millions of uninsured Americans wasn't acting as a boat anchor on the economy? I know that you have an ivy league education so why are you pretending to be a moron on this issue?

Where's your plan to fix it?? Trump told us 9 years ago he had a better plan. Where is it?? You've had every opportunity to present a better plan. So far, the ONLY thing Republicans have tried to do is take healthcare away from 44 million Americans. Agree to an extension of the subsidies and then work on a new plan.

Would have been way better if your party hadn’t sued to remove the requirement for all to participate, remember? Was key to keeping premiums down. But so many participated anyway, including red state citizens that it survived your destructive attacks!!

Johnny, bless your heart, you’re wrong. The Affordable Care Act is working, and the facts prove it. Since it took effect, more than 38 million additional Americans have health insurance, and the uninsured rate has dropped from 14.4 percent in 2013 to 7.9 percent in 2023. Over 21 million people are now covered through marketplace plans and millions more through Medicaid expansion. Before the ACA, insurers could deny people for preexisting conditions or charge them more for being older or female, but the law stopped that. Costs have not exploded as opponents predicted, in fact, health care spending grew more slowly after the ACA than in the decade before it, saving the system trillions. The subsidies that Republicans want to end are what keep coverage affordable for working families and small business owners, and without them premiums would rise more than 75 percent for many people. If the Republican continuing resolution goes through as written, health care costs for those same families could double, because it strips away those protections and cuts the very subsidies that keep prices stable. The ACA made health insurance more accessible, more secure, and yes, more affordable than it was before. Pesky facts

Fact Checked = TRUE @SenJohnKennedy is 100% Correct! ACA/Obamacare has been a total disaster from the start & it got even worse with those COVID subsidies, that’s exactly what @TheDemocrats @SenateDems @SenSchumer @RepJeffries are holding Americans hostage over, demanding $1.5 trillion in immediate spending, which balloons to a staggering $3.4 trillion over a decade with their government shutdown! 👉🏻Overview of H.R. 5145 & H.R. 1 (OBBBA) H.R. 5145: A 2 page bill introduced on September 4, 2025, by Rep. Jen Kiggans (R-VA) with 14 co-sponsors (7 GOP, 7 Dems). It’s the “Bipartisan Premium Tax Credit Extension Act” to extend enhanced ACA subsidies through 2034 & adjust work requirements. 👀 gov/bill/119th-congress/house-bill/5145/text 👉🏻 H.R. 1 (OBBBA): Passed in July 2025, cut $1.1 trillion in waste by adding work rules, stopping fraud & ending temporary COVID subsidies. Dems’ CR wants to repeal parts of it, adding back $3.4T in costs. 👉🏻ACA/ObamaCare Facts: @TheDemocrats are using ACA as an excuse for this shutdown, so now’s a perfect time to understand what it really is & how it’s hammered Americans financially. Dems love hiding behind “ACA” to dodge the mess of “ObamaCare” : FACTS: ▫️Not a single Republican in Congress voted for ACA/Obamacare in 2010, seeing it as a fiscal disaster from the start, and ▫️There are already robust federal & state programs, like Medicaid, CHIP & employer sponsored plans, helping low & middle income families with health insurance, making ACA’s bloated expansion unnecessary! 👉🏻The disastrous history of ACA/ObamaCare from the beginning to now. 📢Spoiler Alert: It’s been a disaster from day one. ACA Obamacare: A $2.5 Trillion+ Disaster That Lied Its Way to Power, Screwing Americans with Skyrocketing Premiums and Debt for Illegals and Slackers! 👉🏻Impact of $1.5 Trillion Demand Equating to $3.4 Trillion: The Dems’ $1.5 trillion immediate spending demand (ACA subsidies $383B, OBBBA reversals) over 10 years compounds to $3.4 trillion with interest and inflation (CBO estimate, September 2025). This includes: ▫️Social Security: Accelerated depletion from 2033 to 2031-2032, widening shortfall by $0.6T, risking 20-30% benefit cuts by 2034 (CBO Long-Term Outlook). ▫️Medicare: Moved from 2036 to 2034-2035 depletion, adding $0.4T gap, with potential 18% reimbursement cuts (CBO Medicare Projections). ▫️Medicaid: $930B for non-citizens & reversed work rules, straining state budgets and risking 5% clinic closures (KFF, GAO). ▫️SNAP: $309B loss from dropped work/eligibility rules, cutting food aid for 41M (USDA, FRAC). ▫️WIC: $8.2B at risk from funding gaps, impacting 6.6M moms/kids (USDA WIC Data). ▫️VA Benefits: $378B strained, with delays in 1.2M veteran services (VA OIG). 👀CBO & CRFB confirm this spending accelerates trust fund depletion & cuts benefits, not eliminates them outright, depletion means insolvency, forcing reductions unless Congress acts.
