Ridiculous. #Dune (1or2) is no better than a mid sci fi picture. None of the suspense as in Alien, not near the heart pounding action of Aliens and none of the philosophizing of Blade Runner. All those movies had much better acting also. By comparison Dune just had Hollywood darlings playing dress up.

Rain Man is a masterpiece. This film won the Oscar for Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Director & Best Original Screenplay - all deserved. And if we’re being honest, Tom Cruise also deserved a nomination. The chemistry between Cruise & Dustin Hoffman couldn’t be better.

The 1976 #Oscar race for Best Picture is as follows: Barry Lyndon, Jaws, Nashville, Dog Day Afternoon & One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Perhaps the strongest Best Picture lineup ever. Cuckoo’s Nest ultimately won, but I think Dog Day deserved it. Or maybe Jaws. Or maybe IDK.

Gladiator is another example of The Academy getting it totally right. For all the misfires & wrong decisions the #Oscars have made over the years, I 100% believe this film deserved to win the #Oscar for Best Picture & I think Russell Crowe’s win for Best Actor was also deserved.

The Social Network was a modern masterpiece with nearly zero flaws. It deserved to win Best Picture over The King’s Speech & David Fincher deserved to win Best Director. The Social Reckoning looks nowhere near as good as this film. I’ll try to be optimistic, but it’s a high bar.

Not only did Goodfellas not win the Oscar for Best Picture, the film only won one Oscar in total (Pesci for Best Supporting). The fact Thelma Schoonmaker didn’t win for Best Editing is as egregious of an Oscar snub as I’ve ever seen. Goodfellas deserved better. #ScorseseSundays
