After testing every AI toolchain for a year, this is the only workflow I'm endorsing: Figma → Claude Code (Sonnet 4.5) Here's how I'm building Lorelight: 1. Design the happy path in Figma 2. Feed it to Claude Code via Figma MCP 3. Get a strong foundation in 15 minutes 4. Spend the next 50+ hours iterating (still design work) The design/dev loop that used to be isolated is finally closing. I even built a complete design system in within minutes. Custom components, living documentation, accessibility rules all from the Figma designs. If you're measuring the effectiveness of these tools by whether they can "one-shot" a design, you're consuming too many AI hype commercials. Log off. Then go actually build something with your hands. With AI. With your taste. Stop trying to "one-shot" good shit. And go make stuff with the new tools. For designers who want to ship real products, this is the stack that's getting it done.

This is the future of web design. Gamma 3.0 has just been released, and I used it to create a complete website from a URL in seconds. No prompts. No code. No input. Their new AI agent will design, review, fix, and iterate on your content. The best part: you can watch it in real-time as it builds your website! This is pretty amazing! There are many AI design agents out there, but this one is one of the most hands-off tools I've seen. This is incredible.

How a Chief Design Officer (yours truly) uses AI to design like an IC. This demo is for any designers that haven't yet embraced AI in their workflow. I’m one of two designers working on this plugin. I manage an organization of about 40 designers of various flavors, but I still keep myself in the trenches whenever possible. Lynt is one of these efforts. The examples I share are intentionally very simple to demonstrate how any designer at any level can leverage artificial intelligence to amplify and accelerate their human intelligence. AI is revolutionizing how we work as designers, yet I think of it more like a renaissance; a return to designing in consideration of the medium in which our designs are rendered, much like we did years ago when I first started. Arbitrarily, something like 80% of what we do as designers (in the act of designing) is exploration and iteration. For the past decade or more so much of that has happened in Figma and previously Sketch. These are great tools. But as a result of designing exclusively in a static environment, many have lost the ability to connect ideation with execution. Handholding your work from start to finish eventually gave way to handing off your work, and we never looked back. Artificial intelligence flips all of this on its head, positioning you (the designer) to be the one who first turns your design into code, iterate and iterate again, and experience using your work as users will, literally from day one of your design process. All the while freeing our engineering colleagues to focus on the work that only they can do, while designing alongside them.

“blank canvas problem” figma says raw and unformed feelings… this should not be shared. * Look, I love AI! I lead and design products for AI & Data Solutions in one of the largest firms in the world. I use these tools every day. I’m one of the biggest advocates of AI. I do NOT fear it. I leverage it. I appreciate what Figma is trying to do here. Good intentions to help designers build faster. Make the design easier and accessible for everyone. And of course, meanwhile, profit from It. it is a business after all and it is perfectly fine. While I was watching Dylan generate detailed designs from a prompt, I started seeing aspiring designers getting attached to these tools and having everything easy, ready, quick… and a series of questions started to arise in my mind; * ➟ Are we going to see a generation of designers who lack resilience and love/appreciation for craft? ➟ Designers who are easily hurt and seek help from AI tools every time a client raises a criticism for the proposed design? ➟ Are these designers going to blame AI tools for the outcome and not take accountability for it? ➟ Perhaps they will go back to the AI input and generate 20+ options for clients in 5 mins without thinking instead of talking to the client, understanding the product positioning and actually thinking/exploring/working for the best design solution? ➟ Are we going to see lazier designers? and weak, giving up, getting frustrated easily? * Dylan says ”This tool helps us to get past the blank canvas problem” Blank canvas is one of the best parts of this work. A new fresh start with endless possibilities. Building design tools in Lovable Introducing our new in-house Connectors tool. Built entirely by one person. Arthur Hilhorst from our team has been working on the new Connectors experience inside Lovable. His latest project is an internal tool that manages all connector icons and logos across the product. Sounds simple, but is incredibly time consuming when you're dealing with hundreds of connectors. So he built his custom app: A self-serve platform used across the company to manage connector assets, ensure consistency, and keep everything looking crisp in every scenario. Of course, it also comes with its own AI agent living in Slack. Love seeing how everyone inside the company is becoming a founder of their own mini tools. LFG!

This is Enter The Closet My first AI short film made collectively with some of my favorite AI artists and some new faces. I prompted the narrative and asked the AI community to help me visualize the world. This was a fun experimental exercise and I hope to do more in the future. Many tools were used across all 23+ artists including Google Veo 3.1, Nano Banana, Adobe Firefly, Sora 2 Pro, Elevenlabs, Topaz, Luma Ray 3, Kling 2.5, Hailuo 2.3 and more... This is Enter The Closet My first AI short film made collectively with some of my favorite AI artists and some new faces. I prompted the narrative and asked the AI community to help me visualize the world. This was a fun experimental exercise and I hope to do more in the future. Many tools were used across all 23+ artists including Google Veo 3.1, Nano Banana, Adobe Firefly, Sora 2 Pro, Elevenlabs, Topaz, Luma Ray 3, Kling 2.5, Hailuo 2.3 and more... I'll let them chime in on specific tools used.

The mindset shift that changed the way I looked at the world: “I’m going to build my own tools” I've automated more daily workflow in the past 12 months than I have my entire career “You can build your own things that other people can use. Once you learn that, you'll never be the same again.” - Steve Jobs "Coding is dead" - Said no one serious The secret wasn’t running away from code No! The opposite. I dove head first into new tools (Cursor, v0, LangSmith, OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) As the CEO of Cursor puts it, we are entering the golden age of “delight concentration” We can now be creative instead of technical. The friction to building your own tools is literally just a prompt away (Anthropic Artifacts). For custom tools, the barrier to entry is mind-boggling low. Tools like Cursor, v0, shadcn, LangChain and Vercel allow you to build, deploy and share what matters to YOU faster than ever It’s no longer skill level that's holding you back, it’s just your desire to take a step forward

I'm so tired of designers thinking AI won't replace them. What we watched with vs Brett wasn’t a win for designers. Let’s take a moment to think about this. A year ago, the idea of an AI going head-to-head with a professional designer would’ve been laughable. Then it happened. And the odds were real. Brett the DJ said it himself — he was shaking on the call. He won, but it wasn’t a blowout by any means. Then he went on a victory parade, talking about how AI will never reach his god-like levels. But let’s be clear: We’re in the iPhone 1 days right now. AI is going to get exponentially better. And Brett? He’s already stagnated — if not declining — as he inches closer to retirement. What we’ll likely see (and are already seeing) is the merge of designer and engineer into one role: The design engineer. > Someone with taste. > Knows how to prompt. > Has baseline technical skills. > And can build/design directly in AI-native tools. Figma should be worried. And I think they know it. The traditional “design phase” is becoming obsolete. Why mock things up when you can run live experiments faster in dev?
