Jezebel, narcissism, and Machiavelli meet at the same point: power as something to be won, kept, and protected — even when it costs other people. Jezebel in the old texts is not merely a queen standing beside the king. She shapes religion, court, and decisions. She understands that the one who controls the story controls the room. Narcissism does the same thing on a smaller scale: the self-image must stand at the center, loyalty must be rewarded, and resistance must be silenced. Machiavelli describes it coldly in politics. For him, virtue is not the same as goodness. Virtue is the ability to hold power. A ruler should be able to appear merciful, loyal, and pious — but ready to drop the appearance when necessary. When the Jezebel force works inside narcissism, the relationship becomes a little court. There is charm, chosenness, and “us against them.” Beneath the surface there is a rule: you must reflect, obey, and not question. Machiavelli would recognize the tactic. It is not always open violence. It is timing, appearance, and control over what is allowed to be called truth. The one who masters the facade can rule without always looking like a tyrant. Jezebel dressed power in religion and rank. The narcissist dresses it in vulnerability, competence, or morality. Machiavelli dresses it in statecraft. In all three cases the question is the same: who gets to define reality? The one who does so does not need to win every conversation. It is enough that others begin to doubt their own sight. The danger is not that someone is strong, shrewd, or charismatic. The danger is when that strength requires others to be diminished so that the position can remain. Then the home, the congregation, or the group becomes a court. Jezebel gives the image. Narcissism gives the psychology. Machiavelli gives the method. Together they form a logic where loyalty weighs more than truth, and where the one who stops applauding quickly becomes a problem that must be handled. That is why it is important that we are sharpened.

One of the most unsettling dynamics in toxic relationships is mirroring/identity theft/identity assimilation. Deep down, these individuals suffer from a profound internal emptiness. They’re acutely aware of their own lack of emotional depth, genuine empathy, and natural warmth. By stealing your outer markers (your style, hobbies, stories, etc) they’re essentially trying to wear your identity like a coat. They want the rewards of a rich internal life (the respect, love, and attention you receive) without doing any of the actual emotional work. Ultimately, it’s rooted in envy, not admiration.

Scary stuff

Really nasty stuff. I was myself targeted by a whole group that was into this crap. Thanks to having studied narcissism and behavioral patterns for 15 years, and having fled from such a relationship in 2015, they couldn’t bring me down. That’s why I post so much about these behaviors. People need to understand that they circulate around us. Narcissism cannot survive among a knowledgeable people.

See this is the kind of thing that makes me not want to interact with people and i lost faith in humanity over 2 decades ago, if i ever had it in the first place.

I understand that. But giving up is not an option when the fall of narcissism comes in 2026. All of us with heart and soul will step forward. Everything else shall be swept away and annihilated.

Most of these people are typically family members or the closest ones to you. Co workers managers and or close friends are also close cannidates for this behavior as well

They also project them onto you & you never even raised them. They were this way before meeting their innocent victims.

This man really wrapped up the dark triads very deeply and well. Im in the midst of this. Tables have turned, but the fear remains very real. Coercive Control needs become law. Pass Mica's Law in all 50 states and train lawyers, judges, police & all social services on it.

It's a hex they use to steal your power. They're pathetically obsessed with you because they're incapable of loving themselves.

Good reminder but also revealed a bit more about a past relationship. Scary how accurate a depiction it is of a covert narcissist.

It’s just nasty seeing those ppl bath in their filth, but just goes to show they’ve lost their way.. and their soul. We don’t stop for individuals like that. They’re too blind to see their ways. I chalk it up to mentally ill.

Sometimes you take it in better when someone describes a similar event; you might be mature and open enough to open up.
