Elon Musk: I know the risk of me being shot is quite significant, but free speech is worth it. “The risk of something bad happening to me, of even literally being shot, is quite significant. I'm definitely not going to be doing any open-air car parades, let me put it that way. But it's also not that hard to kill me if somebody wanted to. So hopefully they don't. I'm taking reasonable precautions, I guess. But there's definitely some risks here. But at the end of the day, I think we all just want to have a future where we're not oppressed or our speech is not suppressed, and we can say what we want to say without fear of reprisals. And as long as you're not really causing harm to somebody else, then you should be able to say what you want. And that's quite a rare thing. I think people just take that for granted sometimes, but really, throughout history, free speech has been highly unusual. I think that generally, I think one should welcome to a country anyone who is willing to work hard, is honest, has high integrity and will add to any given country. If somebody is an asset to the country, why not have them join? That's obviously a great thing to do. I think that's great. But if it's illegal immigration and there's no filter, how do you know who's coming in? You don't know. So, you have to have some basis for saying somebody should come in or not come in. And my argument is, it should be a very simple basis. Will they add to the country? Will they be a productive part of the economy? Do they admire the culture? Do they want to join because of the culture? Then, that's great. But if there's no process for that, then you don't know. And I want to be careful because my words will be misconstrued. I'm not saying all illegal immigrants are bad. Perhaps most of them are good. But if there's no process for reviewing, not at all, then how can you say that everyone who is an illegal immigrant is going to be honest and hard-working?
